Toddler refusing to eat after returning to work

Hi I am looking for some advice / words of comfort.

I recently returned to work this week and my 14 month old has stopped eating he won’t even eat when I get home, he’s completely refusing food. Occasionally he will take some formula and a yogurt pouch but no other solids?

Prior to my return to work he was BF (still does during the night) I feel so heartbroken that he’s not eating anything.

I’ve returned to work in an NHS job Full time as my post doesn’t really offer any sort of part time work.

Since I’ve started work after having a lovely 14 months off with my son he has now refused to eat and he looks so sad in the photos my mum sends me (she is babysitting whilst I go to work).

Has anyone else experienced such a thing? Will he grow out of it or will I need to take him to the doctors?

Please could I have some words of comfort/advice because at this rate I’m feeling to just hand In my notice and call it quits completely.

Is your guilt about returning to work mean your making a false link?? It's unusual for children to use food as an emotional thing like adults do.

Is he poorly / sore throat / not enjoying the food your mum makes maybe??

Hi, I understand how you're feeling. My daughter went to nursery the same time I went back to work when she was 11 months. Wouldn't eat a thing!! Nothing at all. Absolutely devastated me, spent all my time in work worrying. Eventually, nursery were able to update me with a photo of her nibbling some toast. I'm sure it's just a reaction to the change for him, and it will pass. It's normal to be worried though. Kids are sent to worry us Grin
