Need a thank you gift for several people

A local business helped me a lot recently during a very difficult time for my small business.

I don't know any of the people who work there, but they came to our rescue and did various things to help which would have probably cost me around £500 if I'd actually been able to book someone to do it.

I asked them to invoice me but they refused, saying they were just happy to have been able to help a neighbour.

They have no idea how valuable their help was to me. I'd like to send a gift as a thank you but I have no idea what to send.

I need to think of something that is likely to suit approximately 8 people but don't know any of their likes and dislikes. Their business is construction, but that doesn't help much really! I know the business is run by a married couple and they have about 6 employees.

Can anyone give me any ideas? I'd be happy to spend a couple of hundred pounds on this. I'd be even happier to match what I think it cost them to help me, but I think that could maybe cause offence and be over the top as they chose not to invoice me for the work they did to help me.

I would make up a good hamper of long life items such as biscuits which can be shared out on a day to day basis.

^^ food

Or what about some vouchers, a specific amount for each person?

thefirstmrsrochester · 19/08/2021 19:51

M&S (or similar) gift cards then each get to buy what they want in the food hall. Boring maybe but at least every recipient can buy what they want be it food/flowers/wine etc.

MountainAshley · 19/08/2021 19:59

Hamper sounds good then they can share it out. I had wondered about M&S vouchers for the food hall too, but I wondered if vouchers might seem a bit too similar to just giving cash?

Thanks for the ideas.

I think vouchers are fine.

In addition, write them a letter of recommendation or a couple of online reviews, as they will help their business.

A voucher for a local nice coffee/ cake place near them ?

IWentAwayIStayedAway · 19/08/2021 20:29

Posh donoughts?

MilduraS · 19/08/2021 20:34

Brownies by post or a Hotel Chocolat hamlet? Obviously I'm a chocolate lover but my mind immediately went to something slightly too fancy for people to be willing to buy themselves.

MilduraS · 19/08/2021 20:35

Hamper not hamlet Hmm

MountainAshley · 19/08/2021 20:37

Some more good ideas, thank you all. I will definitely write them an online review. I could get doughnuts as part of a hamper.

Subway do sandwich platters. That would be a nice lunch treat.
