This is a bit specific, but posting in the hope someone might be able to advise.
Neighbour is terminally ill and has weeks to live. Wants to die at home and is about to be discharged from hospital (within 48 hours) and palliative care team are going to set up a hospital bed and equipment at his home. He needs his old bed and various other bits of furniture removed from his flat to make space. He is old, no relatives or other help, on benefits and a council tenant. I’m involved as a friendly neighbour.
I called up the council to see if they could help but was told they will only remove furniture from outside the property, but wont up to the fifth floor and remove it for him.
What does neighbour do? He can’t afford a removals company. I thought the palliative care team would have some ideas, but the nurse didn’t know what to suggest. Surely somebody in the council can help, but not sure who to contact next.
