How do NHS pensions work??!

What options do you get once you decide to retire?

I really don't understand UK pensions at all!

Can you opt for how much you want each month (until, presumably the cash runs out!)?

Is there a website that explains it all?

Thank you.

Ask your employer for an information sheet and a statement of your NHS pension.
There is also a website that you can read about NHS pension rights.
The NHS pension is still one of the best available, but you need to look at your own personal information.
You can even buy extra years, which is fantastic if you are part time or have had a career break.

You will recieve an annual ammount based on years of service, average salary and how much you take as a lump sum (so if you take a smaller lump sum you get a higher annual pension ) . You should get an annual statement on your ESR. Or ask your pension advisor.

So- does the money ever 'run out'?
