Bicornuate Uterus in pregnancy

Hello! I am currently 6 weeks 5 days with my first pregnancy. The past week I had two days of bleeding and spotting since (heavy spotting today) I had two blood tests last week and only one returned- they lost the other! HCG levels above 1700! but still cramping and bleeding- I know this can be "Normal". Anyway.. They called me in for an emergency internal scan and confirmed by little bean was alive and there! However found out I have a Bicornuate Uterus and baby is in the right horn. I suffer with WPWS and severe anxiety. I'm worried about what will be. I'm 23, I've longed for this moment.

I just want to know if any mums have Bicornuate Uterus the same as me and what their experience was? The pregnancy, birth, at what stage they gave birth and any other supportive advice/ information!

Thank you!

Hello! I have a severe septate (which they initially thought was a bicornuate uterus - and I think is technically 'worse' than a bicornuate in terms of carrying a baby to full term).

I sadly had one miscarriage which is when they found out about my uterus and my world fell in on me. I 100% thought I'd never have a baby and I was devastated BUT I then had a completely healthy, uneventful full term pregnancy. I had a c-section because the baby was breech and it was safe to try to turn them but it was a lovely birth. And miscarriages are unfortunately really common so my medical team couldn't say whether it was because of my uterus or just bad luck.

I completely remember that overwhelming anxiety but please please try to just stay hopeful because right now your baby has a heartbeat and that's great! And cramps really are normal, unsettling but normal.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, good luck and feel free to dm me if you have any questions etc Smile

*wasn't safe to try to turn, sorry.

I had a bicornuate uterus. Full term pregnancy and normal labour. One problem was that placenta was retained and had to be removed manually.

A good friend of mine has a bicornuate uterus. She carried twins to almost full term (I think around 35/36 weeks?) She was due to have a section a little early due to it being twins and the bicornuate uterus but went into labour, luckily while at the hospital for a check-up, and had an emergency section. Both were in NICU for a little while but absolutely fine. She was 30.

She also had some cramping and bleeding in early pregnancy.

Best of luck and try not to be too anxious! I hope you have a smooth pregnancy Flowers

Have a bicornuate uterus, which was diagnosed pre-pregnancy.

Didn't make a lot of difference to my care or pregnancy except I was under a consultant - but all that meant was one appointment at 30-something weeks and an extra scan at 36 weeks.

DD was full-term (well actually 40+12!) and I had an EMCS after a nearly four-day labour (but that was unrelated).

Oh and she was 8lbs 8oz (large considering I'm a petite size 8/10 and around 8 stone when not pregnant!) so seemed to have plenty of room in there!

I have a bicornate uterus

My first was born early at 28 weeks
My second was born at 37 weeks
And I've had 2 miscarriages

I don't know if the miscarriages have anything to do with my womb as no one said anything to me. But the only issue they said I would have would be that all my baby's would be breech (feet first) and so far that's turned out true

I have a bicornuate uterus. Only found out when I was having a CS for persistent breech baby - all though my pg I'd felt as if there was a door down the middle of my uterus as dd had stayed in the same position - her head wedged under my right boob. When I had her, we found out that she had the cord wrapped 3x round her neck...

Anyway, I then conceived and had ds naturally, with the shape of my uterus not being a problem. You should be fine. Cramping and bleeding are v common in early pregnancy.

I have bicornate uterus. Only found out with DD2 as I had a retained placenta. Overall no problems with either births or pregnancies except for the retained placenta after dd2 was born. Dd1 was 8lb10 and Dd2 8lb13.5 even though I'm 5'1 and size 8/10.

I was diagnosed with a bicornuate uterus years ago before ever thinking about having children. Since, I’ve experienced 1 miscarriage and then had my daughter after a normal pregnancy by C Section at 36 weeks. Currently, I am 13 weeks pregnant. Two weeks ago I started bleeding and went in for a sonogram only to see my healthy baby’s heart beat. I was told the bleeding is coming from the opposite septum that the baby is in. The bleeding had mostly subsided until last night and now seems like a new fresh bleed starting again. I’m hoping for the best and will call my doctor in the morning. Reading posts on this sight has been helpful. Good luck to everyone.
