Hello, can anyone recommend any fantasy audible books?

Recently I've listened to:
Brandon Sanderson
JA Andrews
Philip Pullman

I've finished the one I was on and now I'm a bit stuck on what to go for next

Thank you

Red rising series (pierce brown)
Farseer trilogy, and the subsequent books (robin hobb)

I've just finished listening to Uprooted by Naomi Novik, and really enjoyed it (and i often find audiobooks too slow but this one didn't bother me)

Huge love for Naomi Novik! I listened to 'Spinning Silver' and loved it so much. Just read Uprooted in paper form (beach holiday) but would happily listen to it...

The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden. Based on Russian folklore and so beautifully written.

The Windsinger William Nicholson and subsequent books in the Wind on Fire trilogy. Read superbly by Samuel West. (One of the best narrations I've ever heard and I listen to a lot of audiobooks). Just be careful to pick the version you want as I think there are some abridged versions on audible too.

Ahh perfect, thank you. Lots to add to my list.

James Marsters narrates the Dresden books (urban fantasy) and is a fantastic narrator.

Lois McMaster Bujold's Penric series is a delight - the sunniest lead character ever! Start with Penric's demon.

Lenny Henry reading Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys is great.

Other favourite series include A natural history of dragons and Rivers of London series

Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is amazing but particularly if read by Stephen Briggs in the unabridged version. I particularly love the Sam Vimes series from
start to finish.

Good thread. I have max'd out on my 6 credits a month because I habitually keep listening to what I've already got so am paying for fresh air, effectively!

The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss is excellent.

UnaOfStormhold · 18/08/2021 20:36

I agree the kingkiller chronicles has some amazing bits, really evocative, but if you wish to embark you might want to be aware that so far the trilogy is unfinished with a huge amount of suspense and trailing ends, and it's not clear whether it ever will be finished. I don't generally feel writers owe their audience sequels but when you've only been given part of a story with so much mystery created but unresolved it is very frustrating. By contrast I would be delighted if Bujold wrote more stories in some of her other series but each story is complete in itself (even if mutually enriching). She writes much better women characters too ...
