Some earplugs for all the ppl in the neighbouring tents would be a good start.

Or you know, vodka or something xD

Rosecottage888 · 18/08/2021 00:10

@Pinkbonbon he sleeps all night usually and isn't generally a crier so not worried about that on a family friendly campsite, looking for practical advice.... vodka being a good one thanks

@Pinkbonbon Stupid answer 🙄

Hi Op, on my fourth night camping with a 1 Year old. She has slept amazing surrounded by the fresh air, sure your little one will be the same! Bring several layers for the night time, lots of toys (building blocks have been a good send!) and a high chair for meal times.

Have fun!

Thank you, the sort of advice I was looking for 🙄 I've got a travel high chair, he will be in with me and his dad at bed time which is fine and we have lots of layers.

If it rains we've already decided to leave although weather looks dry and sunny for the week and hoping to spend most of it on the beach

Uk? Weather forecast?

Did that and stay home unless you have all the kit, EH, heaters etc. Where is he sleeping?

It won't be fun.

UK, forecast 18-19 all week. What wasn't fun about yours if you don't mind me asking? Although I might regret asking!

A rug! I failed to consider how wet the grass is in the morning so my little one got soaked every flipping day when we were playing!
A gentle light so if you need to get up in the night you’re not all blinded (or wake up the baby)
Bite/sting cream and calpol obv

As for layering in the evening, put pjs on and layer up over them. I always forget and layer up over day clothes only to have to get fully undressed in the cold! If you can take trousers for the Baby to sleep in rather than a onesie, you can change a nappy without fully undressing too.

Also final top tip, the tactical car trip. My kids are older now but we used to go on trips just for them to catch up on sleep in the car!

Have fun

All in one puddle suit. The grass is wet in the mornings and it saves lots of clothes changes. And wellies if kiddo is walking.
Plastic backed picnic blanket.

We never bothered with a high chair, it was children on adult laps or in the pushchair for meals.
Eldest was 12 months & walking the first time she went, youngest was 6 months and crawling when she first went. We took a bumbo that time as somewhere to wedge her.
I did worry about noise, but there were so many loud snorers where we were that baby babbling was not a big deal!

Wet suit for the beach.
Mine hated showers but lots of campsite have a bath somewhere.
Where are you going? Have a great time.

A couple of plastic crates with lids for storage in the tent, preferably 9nrs your little on can't open. Perhaps not an issue for a one year old, but we found as they got bigger it was best to have snacks and treats in a box they couldn't see into. Out of sight out of mind.

Lockable tool box for sharp knives.

Small carabina to put through the tent zip pulls at night to stop little ones unzipping and escaping.

Buggy/chair to strap them into while you put up the tent/cook or whatever.

You may have guessed by this point, our biggest issue was a toddler escapologist. There was one trip I started looking with interest at those stakes people use for thier dogs!
