Any suggestions please? I know London and have been to places before but I am coming up at a loss, either an Italian that also does pasta, or chinese reasonable or pancake place - reasonably spacious inside.

Hopeful bump

My teens like the Bills in Soho. Then again, perhaps a shame to eat at a chain in London.

Wheretoeattweenandteen · 17/08/2021 22:56

^^ Arghhhhhhh thank you.
I did look at bills today, the restaurant does look nice

But as you say it is almost a shame to go for a chain but I have one v fussy eater

Viet food is nice in China town
Df tacos on Tottenham Court Road

Not Italian or Chinese but the Ivy Cafes (not The Ivy) are not too expensive and slightly more upmarket than Bills. My younger son is quite a fussy eater and can always find something to order from their menu. There's three around Soho and Covent Garden.

My Old Dutch pancake house on High Holborn or Balthasar in Covent Garden - not Italian but good and pretty sure they have pasta on kids menu.

The cafe in the crypt under St Martin's in the Field (Trafalgar Square) is very good - all home made food, sandwiches/baked potatoes/ all the way through to salads and lasagnes and hot meals

Home made scones too

Plus the crypt itself is nice and the gift shop is also underground next to it - it's a good place to pick up your Advent candle - small or large (I had their Christmas cards last year too)

So the cafe and the gift shop are right next to each other and also there is brass rubbings - not my thing as I don't have young children but I saw loads of people using this a few weeks ago (there's often a small exhibition in this space too)

And of course the main church above ground usually does a 20-40 minute concert at lunchtimes for free - last one I saw was a 4 piece quartet of wind instruments playing Mozart

The Real Greek in Covent Garden is really lovely, lots of choice, wraps etc which are good for kids.

Wheretoeattweenandteen · 18/08/2021 08:09

Laurie that would have been absolutely perfect but it's closed!

LaurieFairyCake · 18/08/2021 12:22

Shock it was open 2 weeks ago ? I'm going up Friday so will check if it's shut

LaurieFairyCake · 18/08/2021 12:24

Oh god I've just looked - we were there on Thursday 22nd July - no idea why they're saying they're shut in July

Wheretoeattweenandteen · 18/08/2021 20:59

Sar bear,

We did balthazar, really impressed, great service, civilised and spacious.

Laurie love the sound of the crypt will definitely try that next time.

dft6432 · 18/08/2021 22:12

I like Balthazar too, a nice funky vibe. Although it does feel a bit like sitting in the barber's!

HelenHywater · 18/08/2021 22:17

Brasserie Zedel?

Couchto5ktowine · 18/08/2021 22:20

For Italian, have a look at Colosseo on Victoria Street. It gets overlooked because pizza express is a few doors down but the quality is excellent. One of my favourites!

@wheretoeatLondonteensandtiny so glad you liked it! We really enjoy it too. 😊
