What is the best way to lose baby weight and tone up?

I'm 10 weeks pp with my second, I never really lost all the weight from my first but now that we have finished having children, I'm determined to try and lose the baby weight and tone up. I did have a c section so have a pouch! thanks

Following - unfortunately there is no time for me to go to the gym with kids to look after. It’s also so easy to slip into unhealthy eating habits and have no real structure with food when dealing with a newborn. I’m due in a few weeks and dreading the sight of my body afterwards x

@Parentingdilemmas totally agree, my eldest is 3 and now have a 10 week old, I am desperate to tone up as well as lose the baby weight. My diet could be so much better but I don't know where to start with all of it.

Check out kimmy_fitness on Instagram. Mum of 2, very.motivating. she has tons of free workouts but also an online subscription to live classes that you can do, all from home. All the small steps add up. She helped me a lot.

Weight loss happens in the kitchen so creating a calorie deficit is the way to lose fat.

Exercise is brilliant for building muscle and improving health and mood and the absolute best advice is to choose exercise you enjoy as you're more likely to stick at it. So swim, walk, dance, cycle, run, climb, lift weights, do HIIT, skip, box, go to the gym. Whatever you like best.

The best things you can do are to cut down on sugar and processed food, walk a lot, and try to do a bit of strength work (even if it's just a few squats in front of the TV). Easier said than done though! And don't try to push yourself too hard, your baby is v young and your body is still recovering.

PT here, just a few tips:
  • focus on loads of walking with the buggy if you can't get to a gym. I mean loads, out and about every day of you can - also good for mental health and fun for the small ones
  • get any weights/strength work in when you can, you could try for example a goal of a set number of squats per day.
  • try to just use a rule of 3, eg no takeaways, no alcohol, no wheat (or whatever you choose). It makes dieting easier if you just have these three 'rules'-the ones I listed are major calorie busters without having to go into any calorie counting or whatever.
  • take a multi mineral and multivitamin, an omega oil and a probiotic. There are loads of health benefits (most PTs will recommend these as basics) but with fat loss it's good to do this as it stops a lot of random cravings
  • loads of water and your pelvic floor exercises
  • try to love your body. Focus on health and they fat loss tends to become more of a byproduct. I know it's hard to see your body looking SO different but the more you love it the more you'll treat it well and not punish it
  • consistency is great, perfection is boring (perfection is what every dieter aims for with no cheats but that makes life boring so have a cheat meal once a week, and don't beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon, just shrug and get back on).

Thanks you so much for all the answers! My diet needs a major overhaul if I was to write down what I eat, you would be horrified. I have issues with texture of foods especially vegetables. So need to start with that first then I'm gonna build up the exercise.
