DS is going to LEEDS festival next week, I’ve helped him put together a few bits for it, but please can anyone help with a list of essentials to take… ?

Tent, sleeping bag, alcohol, toilet paper, bin bag, spare clothes, snacks.

It's not like normal camping you just stagger back to the tent to sleep after hanging out.

There's usually a long trek from the gate to the camping area so carry as little as possible or take a trolley type thing to put everything on.

Paracetamol and water. Cereal bars, crisps, other non-refrigerated snacks. Power bar for extra phone charge. Condoms.

Agree as little as possible, sometimes you have to queue for an hour and then walk for AGES if you want to camp in a certain place. DD never bothered taking food as she said it just weighed her down/ended up all crushed up and horrible from the journey in her bag. They used to get there, set up camp and then head out of the site to a local shop for food and drink supplies Smile

Something like pot noodles or those dehydrated meals from camping shops are good and light to carry and you can usually beg or borrow some hot water from someone.

The on-site catering is good and varied but expensive so enough money and easy to carry snacks. A small plastic water bottle (disposable, nothing you'd want to lose) is also good as it can get very hot if the sun comes out.

Oh and loo roll and wet wipes, can't stress that enough!!!!!!

There’s usually a shop on site at Reading
If not then there’s several supermarkets within a short walking distance.
Plus lots of charities/churches are there handing out maps and drinks and helping with enquiries.

Might be good to take a power pack to charge phones tho

I’ve seen people try to charge their phones in the oracle and the broad st mall before now- it’s not allowed ( unless there’s a specific place for this)

Our DD is going with a friend.
On top of the stuff already mentioned, she now has 2 camping chairs

Watching for ds

The Leeds site is rural so no shops to walk to.

Try not to send them with anything too expensive, things can get a bit trashed depending on where they camp.

Oh and top tip, don't camp next to a walkway unless you want to be stood on 20 times a night - also see point above. Camping next to fences/trees isn't great either as men tend to use them as toilets

He will have an absolute ball though Smile

Bin bags, wellies, wet wipes, water and water bottle, high energy food, booze, take most of his cards etc out of his wallet in case it goes missing.
