Anyone into antiques and able to help me date this cupboard? Pics included

I've had this cupboard years and bought it from someone who said they'd had it passed down to them. They painted it a horrible Farrow and ball share so I can't even tell what wood it is

It's heavy: very very heavy, Almost impossible to move. The lock is original I believe

Any ideas??

Looks like 1940's to me.

You can strip off the paint if you don't fancy it and restore the whole piece.

Oh I know it's got no value to it. I think I paid about 30 quid years and years ago, if that.

It's older than 60s, I'm sure of that. I think it's 1930s ish but you're right, it could be a mish mash of new door etc.

The paint won't wipe off as it's stuck pretty solid - the previous owner deliberately 'distressed it' (probably in the true sense of the word!) but I could certainly try and remove some.

Or I could just leave it, doing it's thing in my garage 😀

I think it's mahogany as this thing is HEAVY
