Fleas every bloody where!!!

My cat got fleas. I have done the following more then once and they are still coming!
Flea bombs
Flea spray
Flea powder
Hoover everywhere
Wipe down all sides/skirting boards
Wash bedding and sofa covers on a hot wash
Put salt on mattress and left for hours (this apparently dehydrates them?!)
Treat the cat with tablets, spot on and now she has a flea collar on

I had a weeks reprieve, went away for the night, come home and my white socks was full of fleas as soon as I got home!
I overheard my neighbours son say to his mum that his room was full of fleas and she said “well you need to tidy it then!” They have a dog too, so now I’m thinking maybe I’m getting rid of them and then they keep coming in from next door?

I move house in 2 weeks and I’m scared I’ll take them with me! I went to a friends last week and one jumped off me onto a cushion!

Please help! I honestly cannot afford to spend another penny of flea stuff!

When did you start the spot-on treatment? I think they take a couple of weeks to wipe out the whole cycle of fleas. IMO they are the best treatment though as long as you religiously apply it every month.

Sprays and bombs only kill the adult fleas, and not the eggs. I’m no expert but I’m guessing once the eggs hatch, and bite the cat, the spot-on treatment will start to wipe them all out and therefore no more breeding/laying eggs.

Did you use Indorex and is the flea stuff prescription from the vet?
Also did you do the Hoover?
It isn't just you, they are bad this year.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 15/08/2021 16:36

Make sure you are using good products. Indorex is expensive, but excellent, and flea spot ons from your vet.

Then hoover every day.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 15/08/2021 16:37

Ha, snap TheQueef!!!

gamerchick · 15/08/2021 16:37

Indorex and a spot on from the vets. Not over the counter as they don't work.

Please take the flea collar off, theyre dangerous for cats and only fit for cutting up and sticking in the hoover bag.

aerosocks · 15/08/2021 16:38

Agree with others, you need strong stuff from the vet to deal with this sort of infestation.

tiredanddangerous · 15/08/2021 16:39

You need indorex for the house. You can get it from Amazon.

gamerchick · 15/08/2021 16:39

With the indorex I do each room. Hoover along the skirting boards in sections to hatch the eggs then spray. Do the edges of each room. It doesn't have to be sprayed everyhere.

Mintlegs · 15/08/2021 16:39

Hoover, Hoover and hoover again. Kill the fleas at source. Get the rubber flea collar from Amazon. We have had cats for years. Unless you go to a vet nothing else works apart from above

I agree about Indorex - we had an infestation a few weeks ago. Two cans of indorex and vacuuming sorted it all in about 48 hours. Our cats are rescue cats and are very timid so difficult to treat with the liquid stuff - we used tablets in their food.
No reoccurrence Smile

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/08/2021 17:06

Indorex for the house and Bravecto for the cat.

TheRedEngine · 15/08/2021 18:33

Indorex. Marvellous stuff. You will have to be patient for a few days though.

It will kill your moths too...

lilyboleyn · 15/08/2021 18:43

Saucer of water with a drop of washing up liquid in. Focus a light beam on it over night. They’ll be attracted to the light/water and the soap means they can’t get back out so they drown.

HurryUpAndWait23 · 15/08/2021 19:12

What exact products have you used so far?

BahHumbygge · 15/08/2021 19:20

Fleacomb. Cereal bowl filled with water with and a squeeze of washing up liquid stirred in. Comb cat. Immediately drown flea in water. Get as many as you can, then repeat several times a day. Gets addictive Grin

Does make a dent in the flea numbers quite quickly. Also get some Stronghold from the vet (or whatever's the current best treatment they recommend)... doesn't work immediately, but it does break the breeding cycle.
