Please help me pick a car for my 80 year old mum

My mum needs a new car. She is getting on so it needs to not be too low so it's easy to get in and out of. Something with a fairly upright driving position.

Ideally some driving assist tools so things like lane assist and adaptive cruise control. But nothing too complicated looking.

I think she'd like a hybrid if possible which would have the added benefit of being an automatic. It also needs a decent sized screen for the satnav.

She'll be buying something that's 6-18 months old.

Any suggestions would be appreciated so I can help her decide.

I like my Suzuki Ignis, quite high driving position, not sure about the newest models but the rear seats slide forwards so I have more boot space for shopping. Been really reliable and economical

My mum has a Vauxhall Mokka X she's in her sixties so not the same age bracket as your mum but likes the higher upright driving position without it being big like other similar cars. The sales assistant said it's essentially the platform of an astra lifted up, she especially likes the height of the boot for when she's getting shopping in and out, it has grated seats, zoned converter control, sat nav, parking sensors and cruise control, it doesn't have lane assist or self parking not sure if you can get those, hers is a 2018 model.

A lot of older people around here have a Toyota Yaris. I often drive my mother’s, and it’s nice and high so easy to get in and out. Great visibility and very reliable.

If she wants something higher up, a Honda CR-V? Same make as the jazz, just as reliable but much bigger and higher up, with fancier tech, hybrid too.

My mum had a Toyota Yaris until her late eighties. She's in her nineties now and not allowed to drive at all but tells me she wants to buy a Ford Capri 😁

My 88 yr old mom drives a Toyota Rav. Upright and not low to get into.
