Wtf is causing this?

I will start by saying I am totally up to date with smears, I've been to the GP about this and I've had a colposcopy and an internal scan so I've had it investigated thoroughly. I'm not on any hormonal contraception either. Periods are normal and regular.

I get random vaginal bleeding, not just mid cycle during ovulation but at random points during my cycle. Now the doctors have investigated they've basically just shrugged and said one of those things. Surely something must be causing it?! Does anyone else get this for no apparent reason???

Oh also I am clear of STDs

Yup me too.
I've had all the tests and scans, no on contraception and get mid-cycle bleeding.

I have a prolapse and I read that could cause it. So that's what I've put it down to.

My concern is that in the future I might have something that needs investigating but I will ignore it because I'm used to the mid-cycle bleed.

Mid cycle is probably due to ovulation no? Mine seems to be at random points throughout.

Mine is always 4-5 days before my period.

Thesandmanishere · 14/08/2021 10:20

It's so bizarre. There surely must be some cause!

I had random spotting in my 40's. Doc gave me progesterone. Just for a month or so. Re-set my hormone balance.

Imcatmum · 14/08/2021 10:29

You on sertraline by any chance?

Imcatmum · 14/08/2021 10:29

It gives me random spotting as a side effect.

Seiheiki · 14/08/2021 10:31

Mine was from Endometriosis, Adenomyosis and PCOS. Because I couldn't possibly do things by halves.

Thesandmanishere · 14/08/2021 10:42

Not on sertraline and not menopause related (I'm 31, regular periods and all hormone levels normal)

I do have the copper coil in (had it in 5 years) but doctor was adamant that couldn't be the cause as it is non hormonal

I had the copper coil and would bleed for around 4 weeks on and off, it would stop for almost a week, I would have an extremely heavy period (which I didn’t have prior to copper coil), then the cycle would continue. I had to have it removed in the end and have it replaced with mirena and all bleeding stopped (it even stopped my periods).

Thesandmanishere · 14/08/2021 15:19

Mmm I might have it taken out, see if that helps

@Imcatmum

You on sertraline by any chance?
I'm on a low dose of citalopram. Does that make a difference then?

It says on the NhS website that “Most people who stop using an IUD do so because of vaginal bleeding and pain, although these side effects are uncommon.” I think your gp could be wrong.
