Is this knitted jumper beyond rescue?

Bought a jumper from ASOS in the sale (I know…) which arrived yesterday, I’ve had it on for literally an hour today and it’s coming apart at the shoulder seams. I can send it back as faulty but I do really like it and it’s now out of stock Sad I’m not a knitter, but is there any way this can be saved?

Sure. It doesn't require knitting knowledge, I'd just get some similar coloured cotton and sew it shut again from the inside. I'd do it sooner rather than later before it gets worse, just pull the ends that are left there tighter and catch them in with your sewing. It'll be fine 🙂

I think you could draw the stitches together with a needle and matching thread.

Just had another look at your pics - I'd try and include the very ends where it's a bit unpicked. It hasn't gone too far yet and as long as you bring the stitches together it should be alright. Good luck!

The stitching is coming undone - you can see the thread.

It shouldn't be too difficult to stitch it together.

I often do this with second hand and new clothes, although a lot of my 'stitching' is clumsy knots holding everything together.

IT's ASOS, not Chanel - go for it.

If you look up diagrams or videos about grafting knitting or kitchener stitch it might help you understand how knitted stitches join together and help you pick up the loose stitch neatly and prevent further unraveling.
