I would like to blame Peppa Pig for this

Our family is from Yorkshire. Our speech is not 'broad' by any means but we do speak with an accent obviously.

My little grandson is 3 and loves 'Peppa Pig''.

Lately, when he's talking he has started saying certain words such as 'faster' in a southern accent. He also refers to 'grass' in a similar tone.
"Where has he got that from" ? people have remarked, and smiled. We have to concede it is 'Peppa Pig' and nothing to do with us or nursery.

I hope it's just a phase :) Perish the thought of him speaking like Grandpa Pig.. That's just going a tad too far

You can get Peppa Pig in (unofficial) local translation, such as this Glaswegian version (warning: bad, sweary language):

We live in the US, Im British, the toddler is American. She's watched the one about going to America multiple times. She keeps saying she wants to go to America or if we see a plane she says it's going to America. Not sure how to explain it really.

We are in NZ, and DH is from the UK. A friend commented the other day how cute it was that the kids had picked up his accent…I didn’t want to tell her it’s Peppa’s accent they’ve picked up Grin

I'm not usually bothered by kids shows but I can't stand Peppa Pig for some reason. Grin

We are also in Yorkshire. My niece started speaking in a really posh voice after watching Charlie and Lola a lot. It was very odd to have a well spoken Home Counties voice come out of her!

DS aged 3 says "sandcarstle" every time. He has also picked up a cockney "my darlin'" thanks to Chew Chew the Panda from Hey Duggee.

Our family has quite a broad northern accent (not Yorks) so it is more funny than anything else!

19 year old Dd was obsessed with Fireman Sam and the Koala Brothers when she was little.
That combination made for an interesting accent!!

I grew up in SE England and DF is from NW. I remember at school a friend taking the mickey for me saying 'one' as 'w'on and not 'wun' as you do in south towns. I still say it like my Dad.

I draw the line at 'bath' Grin. DF used to try and say I'm having a baaarrthh. It always sounded so drawn out when he did Grin. I like the NW lilt, its very comforting.
