Chest pains for 24 hours but what should I do?

I don't think it's anything serious and don't want to waste anyone's time, but also don't think I should keep ignoring it as this point

The problem is I have a baby and 3 year old with me and nobody to look after them. I'm worried if I call 111 they will tell me to go to A&E and I won't be able to take them anyway, or worse send an ambulance which really isn't warranted! Our GP practice has been great with e-consult throughout the pandemic but they aren't running it this week due to a shortage of GPs and I'm not sure I'd get an appointment or get through on the phones.

What would happen normally if I call 111? An out of hours clinic would be ideal or even a phone call with a GP to discuss symptoms first

I would go to a&e with chest pains, probs best to go now nice and early before it gets busy/

Hope you’re ok

If you have chest pain they are likely to want an ECG first of all, to rule out any heart problems. I'd ring 111, they may send an ambulance out to you who will be able to do an ECG at home, if it's normal then they may be able to book you an appointment at GP or walk in centre etc rather than going to A&E.

This is all only a guess though. I'd say you're best off ringing 111 and they can advise.

111 were really helpful - said to see local service within 12 hours and to call GP surgery when they open and explain I'd been triaged

I absolutely hate wasting time as I'm sure it's not serious but equally it didn't seem right to continually ignore persistent chest pain. I'm glad they gave this advice as it seems the most appropriate course of action
