What job would you choose?

Weirdly sparked by the thread on ordering a whole trout –a few ex-fishmongers on there and I thought "ooh, I'd love to do that for a couple of days to learn the tricks"

I don't know if it'd be my first choice but it got me thinking –what job would you love a sneak peek into / to learn the basics of?

Am I the only one who immediately thought of my husband? He's a police officer but honestly anything he did would be intriguing, then we'd really find out who is more tired at night Grin

Surgeon. I love blood and gore and the human body. It still fascinates me when they do open heart surgery.

The CEO of my company. It’s an international company, thousands of people working across a huge range of projects and sectors. I just don’t really understand what he does all day.

I assume he isn’t involved in the day to day running of any of the projects, or even the regional companies, so what does he do?

When we were office based my desk was near his office, huge glass walled office with massive desk, table, sofas. I think I saw him about 10 times in over a year actually sat at his desk typing away!

Air ambulance paramedic / doctor. I'd need a hefty dose of travel sickness tablets though as I don't travel well Grin

@OneMorePieceofCheese

Theme park planner - the logistics and the psychology behind influencing customers' behaviours - eg driving them to quieter areas of the park, keeping them in queues etc. Always weirdly fascinated me.
Wow - I would never have thought of this but yes! Such subtle things can change behaviour so much...

Forensic scientist.

Been watching too many tv programmes about forensics and crime I think!

I'd definitely consider this as a career if I had my time again but in my day the careers advice service was shit and girls didn't tend to 'do' science.

A make up artist. I wish I had been one!

Theme park theme designer. I'd love to get involved with making some of the sets they have at Universal.

I’d like to shadow the Duchess of Cambridge or the Queen.

Firefighter. I had the biggest crush on a trainee firefighter I knew as a teen, I often wonder if he made it and what his job is like now.
My friends DH is a firefighter in Australia, when we stayed with her he was out on the wildfires. He had so many interesting stories.

Working in the theatre. My absolute dream job.

cheeseisthebest · 13/08/2021 15:22

Preferably on the stage!
