So 2 adults 4 children age 5/6 boys abd to girls age 11.

We do not have a car so using public transport. We often go to Greenwich Park and over to mudchute farm. But the last time we went to mudchute although it was open alot of it was closed. Don't know if that's still the case.

But also thinking if we could go somewhere else. 🤔 definitely no museums. Any ideas where we could go via public transport?

When are you going

What about the Hornimans Museum and gardens in Dulwich, they have stuffed animals, musical instruments, a playground and a live animal walk through, cafe area then get the P4 bus to Dulwuch Park for a picnic, there is a boating lake, ducks and tomorrow is a youth orchestra live show at 3pm.

Chislehurst Caves
Crystal Palace Park
Cutty Sark
Emirates cable car and the spy mission trail www.treasuretrails.co.uk/things-to-do/london/greenwich
Royal observatory planetarium

The Shard? Expensive but a lot of fun.

As you're familiar with Greenwich, and said definitely no museums, then I'd go for:

Crystal Palace Park
Dulwich Park (might not be enough to do there, but could also go to Dulwich Picture Gallery if that's not too museum-y)
South Norwood Country Park, if you'd like a wander round somewhere that just doesn't feel like London
The sections of the Capital Ring Walk near the Thames Barrier
Foot tunnel under the Thames and explore Woolwich

Water park in Dartford is good. Has a pub next door that do food. My kids loved it, no matter what age. Suits all ages

Peckhampalace · 11/08/2021 17:48

Eltham palace is interesting, but not sure how much children would enjoy it, might be worth having a look though.
Lido at Brockwell park?

Plumtree391 · 11/08/2021 17:58

Hornimans is wonderful! However the op has said "no museums".

Dulwich Park is nice but Crystal Palace Park is amazing.

I admit I've not been to Chislehurst Caves since I was a teenager so cannot comment on that (I don't live far).

Downe House, home of Charles Darwin, which is just beyond Bromley and may be of interest.

This may help:

My children are not old enough for the lake . We went there once when it first opened before they bought the rules in.

Have you walked the foot tunnel under the Thames OP? I haven't checked if it is open at the moment, I guess it is as they have a notice that the lifts are out of order. If you haven't already done that, the kids might like it and to take some photos from the other side having walked underneath the river. The entrance is just by the Cutty Sark.
