I think it's because the prices are typically so low. Brand new Jack Wills jumper for £10? Yes please! I sell on it too, otherwise I'd delete the app 🙈

Anyone else suffer with this affliction? I must have spent upwards of £60-70 at least over the last couple of weeks!

Unsubtle ad I’m assuming?

JackOfGentleman · 07/08/2021 20:07

What?

VladmirsPoutine · 07/08/2021 20:22

@Hiphopopotamus I strongly doubt the OP is a shill for Vinted Hmm

Samanabanana · 07/08/2021 20:27

Very subtle Grin

JackOfGentleman · 07/08/2021 20:35

No advertising.....just a bona fide Vinted addict!

Seems I'm the only one 😂🙈

My friend has been selling loads of stuff on it. I'm amazed at what people will buy, but seem can get some good bargains!

MyHairNeedsASnip · 07/08/2021 21:48

Me ✋ I've taken delivery of 4 very fancy dresses this week. I have nowhere fancy to go.

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 07/08/2021 21:52

I buy but I don't like the lack of detail. I like, for example, that I can look for a dress with pockets on ebay. There are few filters and some sellers only put 1 photograph on

NotImpossible · 07/08/2021 21:53

Yep, me! Stuff is so cheap on there (probably partly because there's next to no buyer protection). I can't seem to stop!

xsquared · 07/08/2021 21:56

I'm thinking of selling stuff I've cleared out but feedback seems very mixed.

ticktockriojaoclock · 07/08/2021 22:02

Hello vinted employee op! I like that vinted are supporting sustainable buying, but I personally haven't had much success with it. Agree that it needs fine tuning re filtering and perhaps minimum number of photos required. You are very welcome for the free marketing research

Afonavon · 07/08/2021 22:08

I bloody love it for buying and selling back a few poor choice impulse buys. My beef with it is the lack of info, such as fabric (I’d like to know before I decide to buy, what it is made from). Also some sellers state the condition to be better that is visibly obvious in the photos.

I do like that it is cheap and not auction based. I like it’s messaging platform, and also that you can offer a cheaper price both as a seller and a buyer.

Hermes however has lost many a bloody parcel and that pisses me right off!

VladmirsPoutine · 07/08/2021 22:29

My issue and this is wrt to online shopping in general is that I might see a nice item for say £20 or thereabouts but delivery is £4.99, however delivery is free at £35+ therefore off I go loading my basket with a few other items to reach the threshold. Before you know it you're wondering why packages are arriving and your current balance is dwindling!

VladmirsPoutine · 07/08/2021 22:33

On a separate note why do posters seem to think the OP is a shill for essentially a multi-billion dollar company which operates across most of Europe with hundreds of employees and millions of active users. Will OP posting this thread result in a few mumsnetters subscribing to Vinted thus boosting their revenue into the trillions? Hmm If so OP probably will deserve an end of year bonus for the sheer marketing genius.

JackOfGentleman · 07/08/2021 22:41

What is a shill????

Whatever it is, I am definitely not one!

Yeah, it's definitely more basic than eBay but I like that. I also love the fact that you can 'make an offer', I've got stuff ridiculously cheap because I asked!

OP posts:
VladmirsPoutine · 07/08/2021 22:45

A shill is essentially a person who publicly helps or gives credibility to an organisation without disclosing that they have a close relationship with said organisation. In essence some posters seem to believe you are a plant from Vinted HQ on a mission to provide them with free PR on a parenting forum.

dontgobaconmyheart · 07/08/2021 22:52

I've never used it. I really started cracking down on owning too many clothes or buying ones I won't get loads of use out of.

Evaluating my wardrobe and several charity cullings later over the course of a year or so (I realised that my most unused and regularly unworn items were ebay or charity shop 'bargains' I probably bought because they were cheap or cheap for a branded item but never really worked in my wardrobe or fit well once I got them home or delivered.

PolytheneRam · 07/08/2021 22:54

It's bloody hilarious that some people think that the op works for Vinted!

TheBestCandidateByFar · 07/08/2021 23:01

Why's it hilarious? Loads of companies do this, no idea if they work for Vinted or not but wouldn't surprise me.

Wanderlust20 · 07/08/2021 23:02

I've just discovered Vinted, love it! I wanted to buy more second hand clothes this year (in an effort to make more sustainable choices) but couldn't be bothered bidding on ebay - the prices seem to be typically lower too!

One con though... A few times, the seller hasn't posted within the week or whatever so they've refunded me. I don't think the sellers are bad, maybe people just forget they've listed something? Because you can see when someone has last been active or first listed an item and I notice some things have been on for a good while...
