Feeling old when going out

DH is out on a stag do. They're having food at the mo and will go on to bars afterwards. He text me to say he feels old and I know exactly what he means. I don't usually feel old but as soon as I go out in the city centre I feel bloody ancient. We're both only 36. Is it just us or does anyone else feel the same?

36 is not old. There will be 21 year olds out too but don't compare yourself to them. You can still go out and have a good time irrespective of your age.

Depends where and what time you go I think. I'm 52 and still go out into the city centre, but not night time (more like 3pm-8ish) and probably not the same bars or venues that 20 somethings would go.

Hm, no. 37 but my friends are younger, 30-35. Met through work. I would say most people out are in their early thirties, but maybe it depends where you go. I don't see 18 year olds in the bars we go to, anyway.

Feeling old is an attitude.

I'm talking from before Covid as I haven't been out for drinks since early 2020, but in general, in my city, day drinks were for the older crowd (anyone much past 30 tbh) and the younger crowd go out in the evening. There was a very noticeable change in the age range between 6 and 8 p.m. in the bars- nearly all older people still at 6 and nearly all under 30 by 8.
