If your sex drive disappeared during peri menopause, did it come back?

Or is this it? Probably one of the most depressing symptoms of my per menopause along with crippling irrational anxiety. Sex drive has just vanished.

Get some testosterone cream

Androfem it’s called

Works wonders

Baystard · 07/08/2021 12:53

It's shit isn't it OP, same here along with horrible lack of confidence and wanting to crawl under a rock alot of the time - I see ugly old lady clothes and think 'ooh that looks comfortable'!

Bigblueone · 07/08/2021 13:10

@hamstersarse that sounds intriguing. Do you get it prescribed?
@Baystard I’m definitely aiming for comfort these days. I feel like a shadow of my former self. Can’t sleep through the night anymore either.

Through Louise Newson’s menopause clinic

It definitely sorts out peri related libido issues

It doesn’t have to be the end!

Alfiemoon1 · 07/08/2021 13:46

Following with interest went through a phase I couldn’t get enough mid way through my cycle now I have zero libido

TertiusLydgate · 07/08/2021 13:52

I’m desperate for testosterone as my sex drive has fallen off a cliff.

GP won’t prescribe it as it’s not licensed for menopause 😡. Referred me to gynaecology with 6 months’ wait 😡 Gave me referral so I can go private. My health insurance won’t cover it as they don’t cover menopause issues. Even if it did, I’d have to pay £300 excess on my policy. Just for a fucking tube of testosterone cream. I’m so cross. And frigid.

Philandbill · 07/08/2021 13:58

@hamstersarse I might be being a bit dim here, so apologies if that's the case, but did you have to get a prescription from your GP and them but the cream from the News on pharmacy?

knittingaddict · 07/08/2021 14:17

Yes, but the issue is slightly clouded because I was on the mini pill too and a blood pressure medication which was changed at about the same time as I came out of the other side.

GettingUntrapped · 07/08/2021 14:36

I got it prescribed by a menopause clinic at local large hospital. GP referred me there as they can't prescribe it. I had to ask GP for it though, they don't usually offer.
Process was very easy and done over the phone. I got prescribed testogel, at least six months supply.
It certainly helps.
You could say you have low energy as well as lack of sex drive/sensation.
Good luck.

SeaShoreGalore · 07/08/2021 14:39

There is a form of hrt that converts to testosterone Tibolone or Livial. Testosterone cream is a better option, as it's an older form of HRT, but you can only get the cream from a specialist menopause clinic, or privately.

SeaShoreGalore · 07/08/2021 14:41

To answer your question - no, it's not likely to come back without medication.

The Tibolone can take as little as 2 weeks to work.

Bigblueone · 08/08/2021 09:03

I had no idea about low testosterone causing this in women, thanks for the information. I have been thinking about talking to the doctor about hrt, would that help do you think?

It’s a gamble with your gp as to what they will prescribe hrt but definitely try!

Otherwise, you can get a private prescription through a private menopause clinic.
