Have any of you successfully tackled hoarding?

I'm autistic and have ocd and you'd think that would make me really organised, but actually it's the opposite.

I think my flat is at hoarding level 4 or 5 according to this picture, and I'm trying to tackle it. Have any of you succeeded in this? I keep going to bin things and then think "what if I need it?"

Or, "this is too good to throw away, I should offer it online instead" - but then people never collect it when I try or can only collect a week later and I change my mind.

Hey @hoarderhelp I just checked in to see how you were doing, and it sounds like your are so motivated and on a roll! Great work!

Don’t worry if you hit a snag and need a break for a few days to let your mind catch up with your actions. Just don’t let it be longer than a few days! Keep going, and as someone says, focus on clean surfaces rather than things. Hopefully you have a clear chair, or table or bench or something that you can look over at and that it gives you a feeling of peace and pride…..and inspires you to keep going to create the next space.

Also…..I know you don’t want photos right now - but take them! It’s like the start of a weight loss journey. You don’t think you’ve changed in the first few weeks, but once you get going, you LOVE the photos and seeing how far you have come, and they help inspire motivation.

You can do it! You ARE doing it!
