In need of a dentist!

I can’t get a dental appointment for a few months due to a backlog of patients due to Covid. I have a problem with my lower front teeth, very sensitive, bleeding and experiencing some pain, it’s been happening for a few months but is getting worse, I will also need to see an orthodontist, as a few teeth are out of place. I can’t afford to see a private dentist, who have appointments available now.
What do I do if it becomes a problem? I’m also not able to afford an orthodontist and to pay for teeth extraction, which I know I will need.

Dentistry was going down the pan before Covid and is now shit. I can't get a private appointment unless it's an emergency, I just want a scale and polish.

The sad reality is you present at a dental hospital and they may be able to do emergency work, certainly not ortho treatment. I'm in London and there's a two year back log for ortho for kids on the NHS.

@idontlikealdi - If I could afford private I would most certainly go that route, especially as the problem I have could be sorted quite promptly, however I don’t have the funds and am only able to go the NHS route and even then I will not be able to afford tooth extractions and possible orthodontics on top. I am concerned that soon I will be in some pain, already have low-level pain that’s getting worse and unable to afford the care I need.

I work in dentistry, and today we were actually in a meeting talking about how we don’t think there’ll be such thing as NHS dentists in ten years time. It’s such a shame.

@fairynick - That’s quite shocking. What will people do who can’t afford dentistry treatment privately though?

brush your teeth gently, floss, and rinse your mouth frequently with salt water (or based on our family tradition the ORIGINAL yellow listerine).
sounds like you have some gum disease happening.
i prefer the little rubber dental brushes to floss.
oh no smoking either.

@fallfallfall - I think you’re right. I already do the above and don’t smoke. My front teeth are misaligned which is the root cause.

I had a tooth extracted on Monday and it was £17. I was seen as an emergency and offered appointment within 48 hrs. Hope you get it sorted soon

@Dentalproblems god knows. I fall into that category, and currently can not find an NHS dentist. Even though I bloody work for a chain of them!
