Carpet Moth infestation

Just moved into a new house with a heavy infestation. 2 bedroom flat. How can I get rid quickly? And does anyone know if you can pay someone to do it how much it will cost?

I got rentokil and it was about £450. Painful but worth it.

I did see one fucker moth a few days later and squashes it but have only very rarely seen one and now use lavender in the cupboards and air them as much as possible in summer.

Same - 2 bed flat, several parts of carpet etc.

Actually it was a few weeks later I saw that moth.

Thank you £450 is much better than the thousands I was expecting. I will be replacing all the carpets anyway. Just has really taken the shine off our new home. Everything feels dirty. I know it's not really.

I sent him photos as I didn't know what I was dealing with. He said

You wont get rid of these with cleaning and shop bought sprays I'm afraid. You will need at least two professional treatments to get on top of this.

In response to your questions;
How far apart are the two visits? We aim for 7-10 days apart. Do you pay in one go? Ideally yes, we require upfront payment via credit/debit card, however, if budget is tight you can pay for one treatment at a time but please remember that you will need to complete the treatment program for it to be affective.
What's actually involved? – The textile pests detected on site requires a course of insecticide treatments, our highly trained technician will apply a water-based insecticide to the carpets in the affected areas. The technician will follow up with an additional two treatments (7-10 days apart) to break the breeding cycle and gain control of the pests. Please note that the treated areas will need to be vacated for a minimum of 3 hours after each treatment.

Please ensure that all carpeted areas are thoroughly hoovered, paying particular attention to beneath furniture and the edges of the rooms, prior to each treatment. Regular hoovering, including beneath furniture and the edges of the rooms, will help to maintain control of the pests and prevent the level of activity reaching its current levels in the future. Where possible, all clothing in the effected rooms should be either washed on a hot wash above 55 degrees, chemically dry cleaned, heat treated, or placed in a freezer for a minimum of 48 hours.

We can do weekend visits but it’s an extra £75 per visit, so we try and do it Mon-Fri between 8am & 4pm. You will need to vacate for 3 hours.

The technicians do have a sign written van I’m afraid. This is obviously a concern for many people, however, please remember that most people use us at some point in their lives and we do a wide range of pests including woodworm so nobody really knows what you are having treated.

I know I felt awful, but be reassured you can get on top of it x
