Why is this so stressful? Furniture buying woes.

I'm trying to buy living room furniture.

I know what style and colour I want but I want 3 pieces and I want them to come from the same furniture range.

I need
A) to like all 3 pieces in the range
B) for all 3 pieces to be within the correct dimensions
C) for them to be in budget
D) for them to be in stock

I want painted ivory and oak, not grey or white or cream or blue.

I want them to have those scoop style handles. I know I can change easily these if they aren't right. Not a deal breaker.

I really like the styles with wicker baskets

I like them flush to the floor, no legs or space for stuff to roll underneath.

Can't be too big, or too small.

I fell in love with the dunelm Compton range but what I want isn't in stock anymore.

Everytime I find something nice is not in stock or 22 weeks for delivery.

If I find something in stock it's £££ or a compromise on the colour or legs or size or something.

I'm frustrated because I know what I want is out there somewhere.

Have you tried the cotswold company ? Definitely has painted furniture and cup handles

I think I've found something from Chiltern Oak.

Cotswolds company had nice stuff but not what I was after in the correct size.

I'm super fussy, the Chiltern range is actually a better fit overall than the Compton, and is cheaper.

But I'm annoyed because it's got legs and isn't flush to the floor.

It's the only thing I can find in stock so I'll have to compromise.

I'm autistic and have adhd. I'm a chronic overthinker. I've made this just to see which range takes first place for dimensions.

The sideboard is negible, only a couple of cm in the difference.

I've circled the ones that don't matter/are the same on both columns and sailsbury takes it.

But it's got Bloody feet!

12 or more weeks is pretty standard for furniture delivery e.g. sofas etc.

You might be able to take the legs off, they are probably screwed on.

sergeilavrov · 06/08/2021 02:15

If the legs are wooden, even if they’re not screwed on - saw them off and then sand it down until the bottom lies flush. No one will see. Keep the legs though, for resale.

I made a lot of the furniture in our home. If you’re handy, that might be the quickest way. Shipping containers are like gold dust right now, so everything is slow.

I slept on it and realised I could learn to live with legs and handles can be changed...

... went out of stock overnight Confused

Next malvern range?

bonfireheart · 06/08/2021 14:23

OP, I ordered furniture from Barker and Stonehouse in Feb after much much searching. Told it would be delivered in July. Now they're saying maybe October.

Pumpkinstace · 06/08/2021 17:05

I've ordered something!

The sailsbury ivory range from chiltern oak.

They are saying 2 weeks for delivery.

We'll see.
