Which is better? I haven't been to either.

TIA

I love Five Guys, but it'll be expensive for a small group, especially if any of them want milkshakes (and they likely will, the milkshakes are legendary).

It's also probably not worth the money if they'll just go for plain McDonalds style burgers, the toppings really make it. The chips are delicious too.

I'd go Nandos for that age-group, they could have platters to share if they want a variety of food.

RubyFakeLips · 05/08/2021 17:23

Five Guys, better drinks choice which they select themselves at the machine, less faffing about as its limited options and then they can choose their own toppings.

I feel like Nandos with a group order and all the various combinations of spice, different meals, different sides would send me over the edge.

TanyaLoves · 05/08/2021 17:24

Definitely 5 guys! Would be great for 12 year olds. Their burgers and milkshakes are delicious

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 05/08/2021 17:25

I'm so over 5 Guys and never liked Nandos.
I love Pizza Express and it's much cheaper with Tesco vouchers

mafted · 05/08/2021 17:29

Mine would choose Five Guys, although I've met several kids who don't eat beef burgers although they also would eat the plainest chicken at Nando's either.

Does Pizza Express still exist? All the ones in our area have gone.
FadoFado · 05/08/2021 17:31

I thought Pizza Express had gone too.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 05/08/2021 17:31

Nando's

Although I'd probably be trying to talk them into a pizza hut or KFC Grin

TakeYourFinalPosition · 05/08/2021 17:32

Our Pizza Express is still open - maybe a few survived?

Pizza Hut weekday lunchtime buffet is good value and caters for a variety of tastes
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 05/08/2021 18:30

@mafted

yup, definitely exists! last month we had 2 birthday meals in our local one and also ate dinner on our holiday somewhere in Dorset just on Monday!

we are going again for my birthday in a few weeks. I'm actually a bit fed up with pizza but the kids love it and they have a gorgeous mixed leaves, pesto, mozzarella & parma ham salad which I'll have again.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 05/08/2021 18:37

My kids like both but probably prefer Nandos. I'd prefer GBK though.

Our Pex is still going as are most local branches. I love Pex!
HotDogg · 05/08/2021 20:32

Thank you all.

dannydyerismydad Unfortunately we don't have 7 Bone here but I'll check it out the next time I'm in a place that does.

Yep that's how I pay for pizza express 👍🏻

Oooh what I’d give for a five guys right now! My dh is veggie, so we never go!
If you do go there, make sure they choose the ‘little’ burgers, they can choose as many toppings as they like in the price and that size is certainly big enough for me - a greedy adult. Also go with the small fries, portions are huge!

HotDogg · 05/08/2021 20:48

Thanks for the tips on Five Guys and Nandos too.

If we do go to Five Guys are the regular or cajun fries better?

I've made myself hungry now.

We usually buy a little burger with extra toppings. That's usually enough for me without fries. Very tasty burgers 🍔

billiebeeme · 05/08/2021 20:54

Nando's I would say but then kids might prefer five guys. It's ridiculously expensive and I thought McDs or Burger King had much nicer burgers and chips!

Raggeo · 05/08/2021 21:13

In 5 Guys make sure they order the little burgers (the normal burgers on the menu are actually doubles). Also the fries are best for sharing. I would share a portion with my husband. The normal chips are too salty for me so I prefer the cajun. Kids might prefer the nornal though.

paddlingon · 05/08/2021 21:56

Dc prefer nandos ( I don't love it)
5 guys is very basic setting although food is tasty.

Suzi888 · 05/08/2021 21:57

Nando’s

Lou98 · 05/08/2021 22:23

Personally I prefer five guys but it is expensive!

I much prefer their Cajun fries - they're the main reason I go! My partner prefers their normal ones though but he doesn't really like cajun spice so just personal preference.

Their chocolate milkshakes are amazing too!

TSSDNCOP · 05/08/2021 22:49

On your behalf OP I did some research with DS and his friends (12-14 gamers online doing some kind of important gaming) Five Guys wins hands down. Empirical fact Grin
