Maternity leave boredom

Orangemochafrappacino · 05/08/2021 10:30

I've just started my mat leave and I'm 37 weeks pregnant. I'm HATING it.

I've decided not to go out and about due to not having had the vaccine and being so close to my due to date so I'm just mooching around at home and hating it.

I've finished the babys room, washed all the clothes, packed my hospital bag, tided/cleaned etc and now I'm just sat on the bed on mumsnet.

Cant even go for walks as the hip/pelvis pain is too much!

Please can someone give me ideas of what to do!!

I did a diploma through the OU to alleviate the boredom.

Batch cook meals for the freezer? You could ask your partner to go shopping or get a supermarket home deliver?

You can get foil containers from supermarkets fi straight to oven stuff too!

Failing that, cross stitch? Video calling friends or relatives, baking or other crafting things?

I know the feeling, was sent off work at 28weeks due to Covid and wasn't going out much due to lockdown/pelvic pain. I ordered a cross stitch kit that I could put baby's name and birth details on and it kept me amused for a good week or two. Although I didn't manage to get it finished before DS was born and now can't see me ever having time to get it finished!

Everyone told me to sit and rest and watch tv but I was like you, bored and tried to find stuff to do.

Now I'm pregnant with no.2 I take every opportunity to sit and read that I can, because they were right. It's the thing I wished I'd done more before the baby came.

Order some craft kits from somewhere like Hobbycraft. Just small ones that can be finished quickly, or you will still have them in 10 years time.

Or learn to make baby/toddler clothes. Can be a lot cuter than bought (and you can choose your fabric and avoid the diggers and baby pink if its not your taste)
