and hoping the weather forecast will change suddenly and positively?! 🌂☔️🌧🌫☁️☂️

We're heading to St Agnes today and hoping that we will still see snippets of sun, but I'm gutted by the forecast right now 😩.

Any stories of forecasts being drastically wrong at the last minute?!

Oh no, is it forecast for rain then?
We are in the Highlands and it said rain yesterday and it was lovely.

Lindy2 · 05/08/2021 09:35

How long are you down for?

The forecast for next week looks pretty good from the weather forecast I'm looking at. It's raining today - the first time it's rained this week but most of the time it's been warm and a mixture of cloudy and bright sunshine.

Lindy2 · 05/08/2021 09:37

Actually it's not even raining anymore when it was forecast to rain all day. The sky is looking fairly bright now.

I reckon it will be on and off rain today.

Cornwall does it’s own thing and will not be bound by the constraints of the forecast! You never know what you’ll get!

Fingers crossed for you OP ☀️

We are heading to Penzance for a long weekend (camping). We live very close to Cornwall and the weather here atm is awful, so can imagine it is going to be just as bad when we head down later. However, looking at a couple of different forecasts it seems to be a mixture of sun/showers Over the next couple of days, so fingers crossed it’s not all bad…

ThePlantsitter · 05/08/2021 09:44

By the sea, the weather changes frequently. So you might get rain one part of the day but it's unusual for the weather to 'set in' like it does inland.

RestingStitchFace · 05/08/2021 09:51

We're at the tail end of our holiday in Falmouth. Has been cool and cloudy everyday (Max temp 17 degrees). Yesterday was better, sun came out for a bit. Today it's wet. We've found plenty to amuse ourselves but we've not been able to do the beach much, which I'm really disappointed about.

Next week looks similar. Pack layers.

Claudetta · 05/08/2021 10:11

Thanks all. 🤞
I don't mind sunshine and showers, just really hoping to not have a complete grey out or wash out.

This is what I am hoping ☺️

I've been in cornwall for the last week and a half. The forecast is often wrong. We've had lots of beach days despite the forecast making it look like it might be raining on and off all day.

FayeFayeFayeFayeFaye · 05/08/2021 10:33

Today is wet and windy. Yesterday we got sunburnt (well, DH did). Kids are just playing inside today, which wasn’t what we’d planned but never mind.

Abraxan · 05/08/2021 10:55

We are heading down there for a fortnight this weekend. Well, we will be in Cornwall from Monday for 7 days and then Devon for 3 days.
Dd is also going to a festival next week in Cornwall.

When it was lovely and hot and sunny I optimistically spent a fortune on sun cream.

I'm not wondering if I need to go and buy a new hoodie and pack my waterproof coat.

When I booked a few months ago in my head it would be sunny and lovely, so paid more for rooms with balconies, etc.

Adware makes it worse is a friend did a last minute holiday to Greece, cancelling her refundable UK holiday, this week. She is now posting gloriously hot and sunny photographs and dressed in swim wear by a pool. I'm not jealous at all Confused

Oh...I love St Agnes. Give it my love :)

The lamb and mint sausage rolls from the bakery are amazing..(as is everything else).

newnortherner111 · 05/08/2021 11:07

Wrong weather forecasts? How long have you got? Let's start in 1987.

Hope you have a lovely time in St Agnes.

mynameiscalypso · 05/08/2021 11:07

We're going to Dorset tomorrow for the weekend with the in-laws. The only thing getting me through was the idea of being able to lie on a beach in the sun with my book and an M&S cocktail in a can while they entertained DS. Instead I think we're going to be trying to wear a toddler out in a hotel room.

PanamaPattie · 05/08/2021 11:11

I would go to the beach - even if it’s raining. Wellies and a lightweight hooded raincoat is all you need - and a bucket and spade. Have a picnic in your car!

SoddingWeddings · 05/08/2021 11:18

I live here, and it's mizzling - the worst kind of light mist and drizzle you'll ever experience. I had to take the dogs to the vets this morning (walked, no car) and in less than 1hr I was soaked to the bone. All clothes had to be changed including bra, knickers and socks despite waterproof jacket, boots and heavy hiking trousers. No-one would enjoy the beach in this weather.

The most reliable forecast for the South West is SW Storm Chasers - www.facebook.com/UKSWSC/

Claudetta · 05/08/2021 11:43

😩😩 @SoddingWeddings

We fully intend to do as much as we can in raincoats, but I just hope this horrible weather front moves on quickly! 😬

This is helpful for packing - I will take several bras!

dubyalass · 05/08/2021 11:44

I'm also down here and the forecast is often unreliable as it's so local - it can be raining in Newquay and bright blue skies in Fowey, with thick fog down Penwith.
