I feel I should really know this, but I don't!

When you're buying curtains, if it says the width is, say, 180cm, do they mean the width of the window both curtains will cover is 180cm, or do that mean EACH curtain measures 180cm across?

Can anyone help me out? Thanks :)

And if anyone else has a stupid question you're too embarrassed to ask actual human beings IRL, go for it, no judgement here!

Each curtain is 180cm width

shesellsseacats · 03/08/2021 21:08

Ooh, really?! Thanks, that's good news. My windows are quite wide, but that means the curtains I'm looking at on e-Bay will fit, result!

Ah if it's eBay id be double checking too. You don't want to end up with two 60cm curtains. Lol. Buying curtains is tedious shit. That and buying towels 🤣

I thought you meant a stupid question, yours isn't stupid OP.
Mine is more of a philosophical one:
Is this a question

shesellsseacats · 03/08/2021 21:14

OK, that went well. I have another curtain-related stupid question coming up.

If my bay window is just under 300cm wide, how wide should my curtains be? I'm guessing you need a bit of give? 300cm would be too small wouldn't it, as you'd need to pull them out completely to cpver the window.

So do I just get them a bit bigger?

Also, how have I got to my mid 40s without knowing this?!

(Hmm. Perhaps I did know and have forgotten. Perimenopause)

Hmmm. Well there's no question mark, but I think that's a red herring.

You're asking it, and are inviting an answer so yes, it's a question!

Are aeroplanes started with a key, like cars are?

LeonardoAcropolis · 03/08/2021 21:32

(sorry I know nothing about curtains)

WildRosie · 03/08/2021 21:35

Leonardo. No, but there are keys. Small private jets and props have lockable passenger doors and luggage compartments for which keys are required. In my experience they're not very effective. Also, when a manufacturer such as Boeing or Airbus hands over a new-build aeroplane to an airline, a key or set of keys is symbollically included in the ceremony.

Orwiporo · 03/08/2021 21:37

Your curtains need to be double the width of your window, so if your window is 300cm you need 600cm.

I’ve never bought curtains but now I feel much more confident about the possibility of doing so

Thankyou. May I please correct my spelling? ...'symbolically'. Ta!
Deathraystare · 04/08/2021 07:39

This is the right place for me but sadly at the moment I cannot think of any stupid questions!

7catsisnotenough · 04/08/2021 07:51

@Deathraystare surely your question should be "Why do I not have a question?" 😉
