Summer holiday guilt!

Hi,
First my 9yo DS was a covid contact on the last day of term so he had to isolate for 10 days, this finished on Saturday. On Saturday I fell down a flight of stairs and have broken my foot and yesterday my husband has been pinged to isolate for 5 days.

I feel so guilty my kids have pretty much been housebound from the beginning. They've had friends round to play but the guilt I have for them missing out is unreal.

Were due to go away Sunday and we are going but as il be in a pot and crutches it makes going places difficult.

Anyone else not managing to get out much this holidays? Everywhere I look people are going to lovely long days out and it upsets me.

Why guilt? Did you arrange covid/a fall/ping?

Nothing to do with you is just life

Yeah I have DS9 and dd6, they play in the field opposite our house with friends but we had lots planned and nothing is going to plan.

That sounds tough, but you shouldn't feel guilty - none of it is your fault, it's just one of those things.

Oh dear...but you still have fields. It s rubbish but no guilt is allowed You did not set out to mess up plans Make the best of it Change plans Look for alternatives (Could be worse) Life does not always go According to plan A good lesson for dc... You still have a holiday coming up

We're on a caravan holiday for 2 weeks in the south west. The first week we were basically confined to the caravan due to crapper than crap weather (actual named storm!) I felt the same at first but I went to aldi and b & m and bought loads of indoor games and we actually had a nice time, the kids were content just to have us around and interacting/not stressed due to no work or housework as such. Weather picking up a bit now so we're taking advantage, the first day out all the crap weather and confinement forgotten anyway Grin
