I have just signed up to this and think its great so far. Does anyone have feedback/experiences? My DS is under 11 so not eligible for a bank account/card

I like that DD can't take out large amount of cash without me knowing, I like that I can set how she spends her money. I like that you can set up chores so they can earn additional money. I like that I don't have to remember to go to the shop to get cash out.

Most of the high street banks in our area have closed now and attempting to get an appointment was nigh on impossible and other online ones were not available.

Wow only took us 15mins on a trip into town. Quicker than a cup of coffee grin.
Im happy at being "paid" 80quid + (1 year 2 kids) for a popping into a bank for a few minutes tbh! I get that others wouldn't.

My DS7 loves his account. Makes him much more aware about money and how much things cost, and much more responsible for making the right choices about what he wants to buy!

DH and I have free Revolut cards (mainly for fee free exchange when travelling) , each account allows one free junior card, so we have that for our two DC (ages 7&9) - all spending come through on the parent app and transfers are instant. If you need more junior than adult accounts then there is a fee. But for a single child the prepay card is free and very convenient.

Some people are happy to pay for the convenience. My ds finds the app easy to use. He is learning about managing money. It's really not a big deal to me that it costs 3.49 a month Confused

Why are some people so desperate to prove that their way is the correct way?

Triffid1 · 03/08/2021 14:53

@BarbaraofSeville you do seem weirdly invested in what other people spend their money on? If people can afford endless lattes, or GoHenry, or whatever, and that's what they choose to spend it on, why not? For me, the cost of go henry is totally mitigated by the convenience, not least because we set it up in the middle of Covid. And DS having his own bank card is so great for him.

We have one, it's great for my son.

Delatron · 03/08/2021 14:53

I’m happy to pay for the ease of it.

It’s not 15 mins to my town, banks are all ridiculously busy so that would have taken ages and I have no idea where birth certificates are (bad I know). So the whole process would have been hours and a lot of stress. When I’m trying to sort out holiday tests and passports I just wouldn’t have done it.

I’ll happily pay. We’re all different. I’ll happily spend about a tenner on nice flat whites a week from my local coffee shop. And ££ on magazines which is probably a waste.

If I’d have had to open an actual bank account I wouldn’t have bothered! I was amazed at how easy this was. No ID, no nothing. Like the tasks, the easy transfer of money. The app. All good.

Soubriquet · 03/08/2021 14:57

Same here @Delatron

My bank doesn’t open till 10. I finish work at 8, and I don’t fancy hanging around waiting for them to open just so I can book an appointment (which may take a while) to fill out a form.

I can’t drive back because I don’t drive and my partner needs to sleep before they go to work.

So gohenry is easy and a convenience for us and we are happy to pay that price

BatmanBaby · 03/08/2021 15:11

We have it for our 10 and 7 year old, and it's great. Love how easy and convenient it is, for us and them.
