Breastfed baby formula pumping

Hi

So I have an exclusively breastfed 16 week old, Iv been pumping abs building a small stash of milk for when I ever have to be apart from baby. I have a few things coming up in next few months so have started to try giving baby pumped milk. I found my frozen milk once thawed and reheated smelt really like metal. From googling it seems that I have high lipase in my milk and baby refuses to take it. I won’t be apart from baby too often and was wondering would formula milk the very odd time be easier? Would baby take it or would it upset their tummy. I really find want to start having to scald pumped milk to decrease lipase as I have 2 under 2 and have little Enough time 🙈

A bit of formula will be absolutely fine. Breast milk also stays fresh in the fridge for 6 days too. That might work depending on how much time you have / how long you’ll be away. The most important thing is that they are happy to take a bottle.

I wouldn’t bother reheating the breastmilk. Just defrost it in the fridge, give it a good swirl NOT shake and then kept next to your body / under your armpit for 5 mins or so until it is room / body temperature and then give it to baby.

FYI for future reference - same with baby food. If you start off with jars / pouches in a couple of months time (we did a combo of finger food and mush). They don’t need heating up, just give it to them room temperature.
Saves all the hassle of heating up and then waiting for it to cool sufficiently.
