DH died a while back, a group of his friends and their wives want us all to go out and have a meal in his honour. I don't love the idea (would rather just go out to dinner) but I suppose it's a nice gesture.

They want to take the ashes with us?!

Nope. That's just ridiculous in my opinion, but the only person's opinion who matters is yours. If this is not what you want to do, tell them firmly and clearly this won't be happening.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Yes, I would find that very strange. As his wife, it should be for you to make that decision - tell them that you don't feel comfortable bringing the ashes along. If they are good friends, they will understand.

This is fucking weird and just say no.

AustinPowerful · 01/08/2021 17:48

That sounds like a v odd idea.

Tell them you're not comfortable bringing his ashes.

Cherryana · 01/08/2021 17:49

To go out to celebrate your husband is a lovely but the request about the ashes -that is not on and a very rude thing to suggest. I can not imagine what they are thinking.

CitrusIceCream · 01/08/2021 17:50

Yes, that’s very odd. And a very inappropriate thing for them to suggest, actually.

Just tell them you’d feel uncomfortable about doing that. If they’re decent they won’t push.
