Where to go- holiday with my 4 year old

DH isn't up for going on holiday this year (fair enough).
But I do, and my son has never been abroad. I'd like to take him away for a few nights before he starts school for some 1-1 time with myself.

Where could we go for 3-4 nights? (Covid permitting- I am double vaccinated)

Disneyland is all I can think of.

Preferably somewhere warm and easy for us (child friendly, but warm with a beach)

Why does it have to be abroad? Will he know the difference? If you are determined to go abroad how about the Canaries or the Algarve? At least its a short flight.

Aside from going on an airplane, kids dont generally care if their holiday is abroad or not. Mine at that age wanted a pool (ideally with slides), animals to pet, playpark.

It's the flight. He would love to go on a aeroplane.

He also wants to swim. So that's why I think abroad (somewhere warm) would be best.

I think Algarve is a good idea. That's a short flight

Would you consider Jersey? Short flight, nice beaches, speaks English

Madeira.
No tests to go if double vax and free test to return. Just took my children who quite frankly love anywhere hot with a swimming pool! You can also do cable cars, dolphin spotting, boat trips etc.

Mallorca is a great destination, I took my little boy to Port de Pollensa when he was a baby (I went for me rather than him though Grin) lovely resort with beautiful beaches and calm sea, and very family friendly. No idea on the covid rules at the moment though.

Jersey is lovely & a short flight - we took DS there several times from around that age

I have just booked Majorca ☺️
There was a nice water park.
I'm double vaccinated and he is 4, so he won't need tests.

I am a little unsure about the testing for myself.
I think I can book a UK one, where they will post it out and I can post it back on day 2 after returning.

I don't quite understand how I'll do a test over there (3 days before returning).

Brilliant! Which part of Majorca are you going to? I think Majorca is a great destination with kids. Short flight, warm weather, nice family friendly resorts. Feel tempted to go again myself!

@Limitedhelp
Well done! That's great! You'll have a super time 🙂

Just google Mallorca rapid antigen COVID test when you're there. There will be small local clinics offering the test. Some are even just walk in. Most you book a time, go in, quickly done, wait 10-15 mins snd they email and print out your fit to fly cert. cost £30?

To board the return flight you'll also need your Day 2 test booked. With Dante labs online it's £29 or £35 I think. Delivered by post, you return by post (envelope supplied, just put in a post box).

Very easy really. Bad that it costs £60-65 but that's the way.

It sill be very hot in Mallorca so take light cover ups for your little one, sun hat, high factor baby sun lotion and P20. (P20 is the best - apply once, lasts all day, no burning ever).

For the cost Disneyland is a bit crap at the moment, no parades, shows or fireworks. No proper character meets and the castle is currently covered in tarps whilst they do work on it. I think you’d also have to quarantine when you come back.
Not somewhere I’d go right now and I’m not usually one to say that about Disney!
