Heading up for 2 weeks in august: have booked castle, safari park and some bits around Loch Lomond. Are there any other recommendations for activities? Restaurants or just things to do in general in that area. 4 children aged from 11-17.

Doune Castle is a decent afternoon out, especially if you're an Outlander fan

Take them swimming at The Peak if they like the pool. You would have to set up an account to book but you can pre-book an hours session online up to a week in advance.

Doune castle had a sticker over the signpost saying closed when I drove past a couple of weeks ago.

Bracklin Falls, The Crags are good easy walks in Callander. There’s also a community pool if it rains.

Go Ape in Aberfoyle is great, lots of walks and bike riding in Queen Elizabeth Forests. The three lochs drive is beautiful. The boat at loch Katrine is good as is cycling round the loch.

The drive from Stirling to Killin is beautiful, and there’s kayaking and bike hires in Killin and again amazing walks and the Falls of Dochart. At the other end of loch Tay there’s paddle boarding hire etc at Kenmore.

The Smith Art Gallery, Stirling castle are worth a visit. Creative Stirling might have workshops, The tollbooth too? If you’re to mooch about antique fairs theirs a place outside Doune that’s good, good cafe too.

Food wise The Smiddy at Blairdrummond, Mhor 84 at Balquidher are good. Couple of hotels up near the castle do good pub food.

Lots of lovely cafes in all the villages north of Stirling.

Doune Castle is closed, also Morlannich in Killin which is a National Trust Property. Bannockburn Visitor Centre was good but not sure if it’s closed? Have a look on the historic Scotland website or National Trust for Scotland websites.

Looks like Bannockburn centre is open. I did notice the car park was busy last time I passed.

There's also this place which I'm ashamed to say I haven't been to (I'm local), but I'm told it's great fun www.duncarron.com/

If you go to Go Ape in Aberfoyle, then it's well worth going on some of the forest walks around the David Marshall Lodge. There is a waterfall that mesmerised my kids when they were younger, and some random statues that spooked them. David Marshall Lodge has a lovely tea room, although I'd be tempted to go for a bar lunch/supper at the Forth Inn in the village. Very trad pub with superb food.

You also have Lomond Shores within 45 minutes lochlomondshores.com/

Have a great time!

Nice places to eat in Stirling:
Friars Wynd
Brea
Bite East
Allan Park
Greengate

Quite a few nice places in Bridge of Allan too. Nick's, Crook Bar, Friend O Mine.

Made In Stirling is a nice shop selling art/jewellery by local artists.

Bannockburn heritage Centre if you are into history it has an interactive battle dodah. Don't go to Frankie and Bennys it closed down . Enjoy your holiday.
