Just that really - feel out of inspiration.
So much rain ahead - how to keep a 9 and 11 year old occupied without spending £££

MOSI is free/donations.

Book free tickets to the magnificent Grayson Perry Art Club exhibition at the Art Gallery.

People's history museum
MOSI (of course)
Hyde swimming pool is a huge hit with my 2 (both good swimmers) took a friend each for them and read my book while they played!

@SmaugMum
Thanks for that suggestion looks great - tickets booked for next week.
Yes, we usually go to MOSI at least twice during the holidays.
I'll check out the history museam too.
Any other ideas please?

NashvilleQueen · 29/07/2021 07:51

Are you north or south Manchester? Do you have a car to get around?

IkkeMig · 29/07/2021 07:55

Cheetham Hill Bus museum was my kids favourite.

timtam23 · 29/07/2021 08:17

Salford museum and art gallery (it's free entry), if your children are into museums. Mine didn't get too much from it once they were older but as a child I would have loved looking at the details in all the Victorian shops/street). Parking is quite difficult but it's next to Salford crescent train station. I think you may need to make a booking to see the Victorian street.
Ordsall Hall was also reasonably successful for my children, although this was a few years ago now so not sure if you currently have to book, they had activities and there's a big open space & garden area outside for running around a bit.

Great ideas.
Yes we have a car, South Manchester.
I've just found a good round up on MEN website. Just booked in to an Owl Farm in Oldham for this afternoon.
If I don't plan things, they will end up bickering and asking to play Roblox all the time.
When it's sunny, it's easy but the rain is a pain.

Don't think anyone's mentioned the Manchester Museum yet - perfect for children that age. Not been for a while but they used to have dinosaur skeletons, mummies, live little frogs.

NashvilleQueen · 29/07/2021 09:52

Have you been to the Stockport museums?
Air raid shelters
Staircase house

iklboo · 29/07/2021 09:58

YY to Salford art gallery / museum. DS(15) still loves it there. Also second the Manchester Museum.

If you've got a car Jodrell Bank is good.

Chill Factore - you'd have to book though

Trafford Centre crazy golf, climbing wall & laser quest.

In case anyone needed more ideas 😁

The Pankhurst Centre museum is reopening in a few weeks - think it's towards the end of the holidays - with a new exhibition geared towards younger visitors www.pankhurstmuseum.com/

Anuthanamechange · 29/07/2021 21:09

Also to add to this - you’re never too old to stick some wellies on and go on a puddle hunt (or just being silly in the rain!) 🤣🤣

There’s the new RHS Bridgewater. My six year old went with school and has asked to go back he enjoyed it so much!

There’s horse riding at Daisy Nook.

Gulliver’s World is pretty cheap, as is Blackpool Zoo (season ticket is great value of you buy in November for Black Friday).

Treasure Island is on at the Lowry - I bought tickets for the 8th August for £10 each with - think they’re £19 each other wise.
