How to keep warm in cold water?

My child is really struggling at the beach, paddling pools etc as she gets really cold really easily.

I’ve been looking at wetsuits for her - would this help? Any recommendations?

She loves the paddling pool but even with warm water added she is chittering after ten minutes!

Even lycra sunsuit would insulate a bit, but wetsuits tend to insulate more.

Wetsuits make a huge difference. Get one!

We have a few sun suits and they don’t really help her at all.

I’ve seen a fleece lined wetsuit but only seems to go to 2 years. She is 4.

Any recommendations for a wetsuit?

Yes a wetsuit would help thats what they are for.

Any wetsuit would do. I got a short one off fb marketplace for about £10. There’s loads available. If it’s just for paddling I wouldn’t worry about what brand it is.

Any wetsuit, the thicker the neoprene the warmer but the more difficult they are to move in. Full length will be warmer but shortie style more normal to see in paddling pools etc. Sports Direct, Aldi etc all have them you dont need to pay a fortune.

Wet suit will work but it will stop as soon as you get out of the water though.

Wet suits take on water and holds it and your body heats the water. It needs to fit correctly or the water will just flush through constantly if it's too loose. If she is getting in and out of the pool, it will flush through and be replaced and have to get warm again.

As soon as you get out iirc you'll just get cold again pretty quickly.

Not sure how helpful it will be.

I remember when she was a baby we had a wee vest that seemed to keep her warm. Wonder if you get them for older children?

All her pals (and her big sister) and happy enough in their swimsuits and she tried her best but she just can’t warm up!

I always put a wetsuit on mine. Decathlon are good for ones for small children or even Argos
