What is the ideal weather for the UK do you think?

We moan when it’s too cold, we moan when it’s too wet. But then we moan when it’s too hot!

So what is the ideal weather for the UK?

For me, personally, I would say in the summer around 23-25 degrees would be perfect. Anything hotter than that is too much I think.

I don’t mind cold weather but when we had the “big freeze” a few years ago, lasting into March, that was too cold!!

Oh yes, a breeze is a must!

Depends where I am. If it’s 30 deg in London it’s going to be a few degrees cooler at any S coast beach.

So I’d like it nice and hot if I’m going to be on the beach, please, but no more than 25 deg if at home.
The key thing would be reliability, though. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to guarantee that your 2 weeks in August weren’t going to be cool and rainy?

It does rather amuse me when Brits complain of U.K. ‘humidity’. I take it they’ve never been anywhere where the humidity really is something to whinge about - I.e. being able to wring out your top after being outside for more than 5 minutes.

I used to work on the front line with the public, and whatever the weather you could absolutely guarantee that someone would be moaning about it. Too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, too ‘humid’ 😂 , you name it.
Oh, and ‘muggy’ of course - usually meaning it’s actually warm enough to sit outside without a jumper after dark.

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER I feel like you are my people.

People talking about London humidity like it’s somehow exceptional… yes it gets a bit humid but it’s hardly Singapore or even Brisbane.

Under 10 degrees and sunny, bright weather is my perfect. Love the cold!

Sloth66 · 26/07/2021 18:38

10-15. Nice and cool. And a decent winter with frost and snowfall.

Katefoster · 26/07/2021 18:41

I hate being hot and id rather be too cold than too hot. I love the depths of winter

Smartiepants79 · 26/07/2021 18:42

I love our seasons. I love that we get all types across a 12 month period.
I suppose low to mid 20’s and a blue sky is the nicest but I love a good snow fall or a crisp autumn day. A lovely 16 degree spring afternoon is also rather great …..
I prefer less rain but am aware that it’s quite necessary for life!! Grin

an Indian summer in September, bright sunny days, no rain, no humidity

TopOfTheHour · 26/07/2021 18:45

21 C peak at 2pm, slight breeze.

OhGiveUp · 26/07/2021 18:54

Sunshine with temps around 23degs with variable light breeze 365 days a year with rain overnight between 01.00 and 05.00 365 nights per year.

I am quite happy now we are back to an average British summer. I didn't like either constant rain or a heatwave.
