Period early after Pfizer and now worried about getting second dose?

Anyone else?

I am booked in for second jab but my period was 2 days early after first jab and a little bit heavier than usual. I’m worried about getting the second jab and don’t know whether to leave it?

I am not an anti Vaxer but keep thinking what is it doing to women if it is impacting periods? I have anxiety so this is huge for me and panicking me a lot.

@Treeche I had a terrible time after dose one, my period was earlier and far heavier with severe cramps. It genuinely felt like the worst period I have ever had!

Had my second dose and just had my first period after that, absolutely fine. No changes at all. My cycle is back to its clockwork self.

Please don't avoid your second jab because of period concerns. All vaccines can affect periods as it's affecting your immune system, of which your endometrial lining is part of. I was hesitant about my second dose because my period had been so awful after dose one, but so so glad I didn't skip it.

Thanks, do you think timing of it matters? In terms of the cycle?

I had no impact from my first (AZ) jab but after my second I had a very light period followed by a month of light bleeding every day (panty liner levels) then a normal period and back to normal.

As the PP says it is very common for all vaccines to have short term impacts on the menstrual cycle, there have been a lot of reports via the yellow card system for the Covid vaccines so we'll no doubt know soon enough if it has more of an impact than other vaccines.

Mine was the same but from what I read, and discussed with GP friend, the uterus is part of your immune system. Having the vaccine triggers an immune response which can manifest in various ways, for some women it’s in the uterus.

I don’t personally think having your period a few days early is a significant reaction or bad omen. That can happen if you have a bad virus, dramatic diet change etc.

I’ve since had my second jab and been fine.

Mine was earlier and horrendous after my first jab. I had the second one in April and things have settled now, but still very heavy, although now I'm thinking that's peri-menopause rather than Pfizer.

But after the first one, my period was very heavy, sorry for too much information but with large clots, very painful, it made the tops of my legs feel both numb and painful at the same time, and they were lasting for nine to twelve days. I was also having just a two week break between them ending and starting.

Thing is though on a large scale the vast majority of vaccines are given to babies and prepubescents. So the effect will be amplified with covid as it’s being given to adult females. This is why so many women seem to be affected.

If we all had mmr at 18 instead of 18m we would see the same effects.

I hadn’t had a period for a good few years due to being on Cerazette, after having my first Pfizer I had a 10 day period, and it was soooo heavy and just vile! Dreading my 2nd in a few weeks time.

Friend of mine who's a GP says she's seen a huge upswing in women reporting weird periods throughout the pandemic –tender breasts, heavier flows, periods stopping for no reason...

It may be connected to the vaccine –it may be all kinds of other environmental factors too.

Correlation doesn't = causation and all that... and there's so much we're all going through right now, it's only to be expected our cycles are affected a bit.

Hope you're ok.

Mine was a week late then the next was 10 days early. Super sticky and weird. I've got my second on tuesday, period due in 10 days according to my fitbit.

Yes, I was thinking that as I wrote it. The only other vaccines given in large numbers to women of child bearing age would be the flu vaccine and then possibly the HPV vaccine given to girls.
