Two nights in Glasgow - what should we see?

Also where should we eat?

Just me and DP. We like art and museums and views. We like all food.

The Kelvingrove and Riverside Museum - my favourite part is the recreation of an old Glasgow street.

I live in the west and just love the architecture here. The Oran Mor is a lovely building and it has a drinks garden open at the moment - I'm going tomorrow! The Lighthouse in Mitchell Street - you can climb to the top floor for a good view.

Glasgow has loads of fab museums and art galleries. Agree the Kelvingrove is a fabulous art gallery, it has a really good collection. I was going to suggest The Burrell Museum Collection and The St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art but both seem to be closed at the moment. It's small but the MacIntosh House in the Hunterian Gallery in the University is interesting, and the collection in the Hunterian is pretty good, there is a large Whistler Collection. The Scotland Street Museum (school designed by CRM and now a museum about education) is shut at the moment though. Here is a list of all the CRM sites in Glasgow.

My boyfriend and I ate in a lovely Turkish restaurant in Glasgow recently. It was called Meze Meze. I would recommend it if you like Turkish food.

The Spanish Butcher - we live 50 miles from Glasgow but it is worth going there just to eat at the Spanish Butcher. Have a drink at Gin 71 on the way. I wish we were there now!

Barras Art and Design ( light meals) with great open air bar space.
Merchant City has some good eateries too. Tried Nonna Said yesterday and it was great.

All of the above museums but also the necropolis, it’s a Victorian cemetery and really interesting.

Definitely Kelvingrove and the Necropolis. And go to University Cafe on Byres Road for a brunch or lunch of macaroni cheese, chips and garlic bread. Amazing.

Eusebi Deli, eat in or takeaway and eat in the park.

Hillhead Book Club is lovely.

Definitely go to the Kelvingrove (you’ll need to book). Mother India is across the road too for dinner.

Cottonrake and Broken Clock for bakeries.

Phillies’ in the South Side for drinks.

Ox & Finch, Gandolfi, paesano pizza, Kenner & Jones, Epicure, mother India are places I’ve tried or had recommended. So many good places to eat in Glasgow
