What to do in the summer holidays ... without children?

I feel a bit silly posting this but ... I have next week booked off work. DS is on a virtual summer school so his afternoons are busy (and he's a teenager so likely won't get out of bed until 5 minutes before the summer school starts). DD has just accepted a last minute invitation to go away with a friend on holiday.

So I now have a week with no children to worry about, which is something that hasn't happened for over 17 years.

I genuinely have no idea what to do with myself but don't want to waste the time!

So your best suggestions are very welcome ...

Do you have any local galleries or museums you could visit perhaps combined with a bit of lunch or coffee and cake.
If you have a garden sit curled up with a good book.
You could plan a day out with a friend.

Please yourself! We go to gardens, museums, to wander around towns and have lunch, off to motorsport day soon, and today a gig, yes first since March 20!

Get in touch with your friends and plan some nice things to do and make the most of it

Or

If you feel it's a wasted week of holiday work and take the holiday at a later date perhaps

Beach
Museum
Gallery
Cafe hopping
Book shop
Watch TV
Read a book in the park

If I’m honest I’d go to work and switch the week off for one when the rest of the country isn’t off too Grin

But if that’s not possible, I love the wandering around towns etc idea.

A lot of places will be busy which can be offputting, but if you go early, it's usually not too bad.

I do lots of walking, combined with a nice lunch out. If its really warm, I like to sit in the garden, read and drink, like you would on a sun lounger on holiday.

If you like theatres and galleries, that could be a good thing as you don't have teens moaning about being bored.
