Virgin river (Netflix) is a nice easy watch

Skybluepinkgiraffe · 24/07/2021 17:50

@Hallomother

Ted Lasso gone fishing with Mortimer and Whitehouse
I find Gone Fishing sweet and soothing. Also, Last Tango In Halifax.

Japan's answer to the BBC, NHK, has some lovely documentaries on their website. One is of a 95 or so year old woman that makes a traditional sweet and sells it locally in her area. She does this in addition to caring for her son and his wife who both have cancer.

She has such a bright outlook and is so generous. It's called 'Grandma Mochi'. I watch it sometimes when I just want a comfort watch.

Bizjustgotreal · 24/07/2021 17:51

I meant to say grateful, not generous.

Loyaultemelie · 24/07/2021 17:54

I'm currently on Call the Midwife (Netflix) Desperate Housewives (Disney +) have loved Clarksons Farm on Prime, Benidorm from the beginning on Netflix and Derry Girls

Oh man, I watched the first season of Raising Hope when it was first out! I had to cancel my TB subscriptions so was never able to watch anymore. Wasn’t it cancelled in the end?

DinosaurDiana · 24/07/2021 18:14

Dinner ladies.
Death in Paradise.

TellySavalashairbrush · 24/07/2021 18:15

Just started watching’The repair shop’ on BBC 1. It’s so lovely and gentle. Wished I’d started watching it sooner.

riromay · 24/07/2021 18:21

I've just watched Yesterday on Netflix. It's a movie where something happens to the main character and he is the only person who remembers the Beatles among other things. He was a failed musician before. It's very light and nice to watch imo, not hilariously funny but funny sometimes.

My go-to when I need something light hearted are modern family and friends.

SilentBob · 24/07/2021 18:23

Death in Paradise
Midsomer Murders
Poirot
Marple
Shakespeare and Hathaway

Delightful, all

Bizjustgotreal · 24/07/2021 18:25

@happycamper3 - just type 'granny mochi nhk' into Google and it'll be on the NHK website.

Today I've been watching the 'great race' shows on there about ultra marathoners. NHK has a tonne of YouTube vids as well that don't have adverts for some reason. A lot of them about cooking.

midsomermurderess · 24/07/2021 18:26

Maybe not exactly happy, but The Brokenwood Murders, which is along the lines of Death in Paradise etc. It's set in NZ, so some nice escapism there.

Soubriquet · 24/07/2021 18:28

The good place on Netflix

It’s quite funny

RevelWithRebels · 24/07/2021 18:29

@Bobbybobbins

I love Taskmaster for a good laugh
Yes to Taskmaster. All the seasons are on four on demand.

It's the show that helps me switch off anxious thoughts and enter into something very funny and lighthearted. It is a real tonic.

oscarandelliesdad · 24/07/2021 18:29

Hart of Dixie and Ted Lasso. Lovely characters, low peril happy viewing

viques · 24/07/2021 18:29

Life in Pieces , Netflix. Really brilliant cast, short funny episodes.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 24/07/2021 18:45

Motherland

Chunkymenrock · 24/07/2021 18:54

The Detectorists is perfection!

MirandaMarple · 24/07/2021 19:04

The Cruise with Jane McDonald is repeated iplayer at the moment. How does the mid 90s look so old?!
