Osteopathy experiences

My 11 month old suffers from constipation and trapped wind. I was hoping an osteopath might help, did it help your little ones?

Good and bad :)

I think the first thing to look at would be what your DC eats?
What are you giving as a typical day?

BillyBearSpam · 24/07/2021 03:58

A craniosacral therapist can work wonders with babies/toddlers

leahmaysimmonds · 24/07/2021 04:55

I have literally tried everything. She’s dairy free, gluten free, soy free and doesn’t have potato’s because they cause her a lot of trapped wind. Nothing is working

We took our 4 month old to a cranio osteopath - she was barely sleeping, crying, coliky for weeks and weeks and one session with the osteopath did the trick. It was bordering on miraculous - I could have gone back and kissed her!

BikeRunSki · 24/07/2021 07:36

I was very sceptical, but took DD to a cranial osteopath when she was about 18 months old and pretty much refused to sleep or eat much, without our a massive fuss. After her first session she slept for about 3 hours, then through the night for the first time ever. We went a few times, the results were impressive.

I now have trouble getting her out of bed…

@leahmaysimmonds don't tell us what she doesn't eat, but what she does eat.
Rice and banana for example are very constipating. Cooked ripe pear, cooked prunes, have the opposite effect.
What does she have for breakfast/lunch/snacks?

leahmaysimmonds · 24/07/2021 12:49

She doesn’t have banana or rice. She does pears, prunes, sushi, pasta, chicken, vegetables

Pear juice helped one of my DC when he was this age.

Good luck!!

leahmaysimmonds · 24/07/2021 20:25

It’s not working for her. Neither is anything working for her trapped wind. I’ve tried so so much!

Note she’s cmpa and on a dairy free formula
I have tried anti colic bottles, mixing formula with spoon and taking out bubbles instead of shaking, gripe water, cool boiled water, dentinox colic drops, comfort milk, tummy time, organic milk, infacol, probiotics, babocush, fennel tea, massages, bicycle kicks, burping every 2 ounces and after feeds, put her on neocate, pacefeeding, keep her upright after meals, putting her on her tummy to sleep and so much more

@leahmaysimmonds sushi is rice.
Stop giving - if she is having them - all industrial baby ultra processed food, from rice cakes, to melty puffs, vegetable crips and other cereal bars, rusk, wafer, ....
in order to not make the problem worse upstream, and downstream, since you have tried many things, give the osteopath a go. Have one session and see how it goes.

DS2 had terrible reflux, ended up several times in hospital for aspiration pneumonia when he inhaled his vomit, and I was given a very long list of food to avoid for both of us (I was BF) and it included poultry, not only the eggs, but also the flesh of poultry, so no chicken, turkey .
It was a no citrus, no tomatoes, no dairy, no wheat, no poultry. What does your GP say? Did they recommend some food and told you to avoid others?

Try it. Have oats for breakfast, or some avocado on spelt toast (I made my break) , a soup with a spoonful of lentils for lunch, a few bites of cod for dinner
Fruits, cooked or raw in between. It is summer, watermelon helps a lot with constipation. Yellow kiwis as well.
Just avoid the ultra processed foods aimed at children but also adults.

leahmaysimmonds · 24/07/2021 22:03

Even when she didn’t have sushi or even food she was thesame. It hasn’t made a difference.

Have you been to the GP? If she's that constipated I'd be going to the docs for lactulose or similar . One of mine has been on laxido since he was tiny because his bowels just don't work well . Sometimes diet just doesn't solve it.

leahmaysimmonds · 25/07/2021 00:30

Lactulose gave her explosive poos and she seemed unsettled for days after having it. X
