Just that really - had pain and swelling which is how I eventually got diagnosed via MRI.
It settled down for a few months, but is now back with a vengeance, along with pain if I bend my knee too far.
What helps you deal with it day to day?
I've had to stop walking on my treadmill for the time being. Sad

Me! I had this diagnosed during keyhole surgery maaany years ago. I was a gymnast and dancer at the time and remember the pain you describe. I saw a sports physio and a worked on building the muscles right next to my inner knee cap (can't remember what they are called!) This was mainly because I had super strong thighs... So had to build muscle to protect the knee further. That and plenty of hot and cold compresses after training. It worked for a while, but I was never strong enough again to continue competing etc.
Over the years the pain lessened BUT I do think that is because I slowly compensated, and now my lower back is also buggered!
I struggle with hills, up and down.
I don't think it's something that repairs, just something you can manage. Which will depend on your current activity.
I had more pain when I was heavier. Keep active, but rest when you need. Frozen peas and hot cherry pips are your friend.

My DH had his cartilage removed at the age of 28. He is 64 now. That’s what they did then instead of repairing they removed it. He has had flare ups with pain and swelling and all scans showed his ligaments were not great, about 20 years ago he had a clean up of debris in knee. It has not stopped him running 2 football teams and even training with them and doing a physical plumbing job since. He has basically learnt to live with the pain rather than have another operation.

@SuperSharpShooter cherry pips in a bag? Yes, I know it's a potential daft question!

@Mindymomo, the cartilage in the actual knee joint is ok.

Yes, you can microwave them or put them in the freezer to use as compress
