I am waiting for a neurology appointment but in the mean time is there any medication that can stop this as it's really irritating now

Have you been to a chiropractor?

TigersandTeddybears · 22/07/2021 22:59

If it's definitely nerve pain then any of the neuropathic pain meds like gabapentin, pregabilin, or amatryptaline

I had continuous pins and needles in my arms & legs and it was a vitamin D deficiency- I’m assuming they’ve given you blood tests to check for that?

I had pins and needles in my arms at the start of my pre diabetes.
Maybe nip in to a pharmacy and ask for a blood sugar test?
Or for a couple of days, eat very healthily and drink plenty of plain cold water.

dryasaboner · 22/07/2021 23:19

Yeah I've had a ton of bloods done all normal

It's been attributed to my fibromyalgia and reynauds syndrome/ phenomenon.

But I also manage to cut off the circulation in my hands a lot, depending on what position I'm resting in.

Vitamin B12 deficiency, sometimes your blood serum levels can be fine but your body isn’t absorbing it. Have a google.

Bloods have ruled it out

@TigersandTeddybears

Have you been to a chiropractor?
No but I'm considering it as there's one at the top of my road

Have they considered carpal tunnel syndrome?

Hydrate · 23/07/2021 06:28

Arthritis in your neck can do that. P

cariadlet · 23/07/2021 06:28

I can see why you are frustrated if you've been waiting for ages to get an answer and find a treatment that works but please don't waste your time going to see a chiropractor. It's just a pseudoscience. There was a great episode about it on the Behind the Bastards podcast.

The founder had some very strange ideas, it's got absolutely no scientific basis or evience in its favour (proper evidence from scientific trials rather than anecdotal "evidence") and is basically a money making scam.

If practitioners do anything that works then they aren't following the system rigorously; they're more likely to be giving physiotherapy. If they follow the system accurately then you'll pay for something that doesn't work.

There are videos on YouTube of proper doctors talking about the dangers and some really upsetting videos of chiropractic manipulation being carried out on very young children.

My physio spends a lot of time repairing injuries caused by chiropractors.

@MiloAndEddie

Have they considered carpal tunnel syndrome?
I was going to say this. I had carpal tunnel (mine was mid to late pregnancy related, disappeared as soon as I gave birth both times) and I had pins and needles in my hands constantly. It drove me mad and stopped me driving in the end!
Roselilly36 · 23/07/2021 08:09

Pins and needles always warrant through investigation. Any other symptoms OP, fatigue, dizziness? Or just pins & needles. See your GP would be my advice.

dryasaboner · 23/07/2021 12:16

Yeah a few other symptoms so just waiting for appointment now
