Been noticing over the last few weeks that hubby has been coming home with these marks all over his legs. Now where else.
He says they aren't itchy or sore or anything but he does seem to be getting more and more of them. Any ideas welcome!!

Anyone know what this is?!

Looks like a hayfever rash,or pollen allergy. Does he work outside?

He's a hgv driver so is sometimes outside but not often. He also wears long trousers all day so don't think he would be exposed to much

Heat rash?

Bargebill19 · 22/07/2021 20:13

Heat rash or allergy eg dust. … and I’m sorry for this, but it has been known for cabs to be ingested with bedbugs and fleas. But you’ve said they don’t itch so fingers crossed it’s one of the first two options.

@cliffdiver

Heat rash?
That's what he thought but it's been there for a few weeks now and is getting worse. I can understand it in the current heat but it hasn't been that hot before then. Possibly could be worse at the moment because of the heat though

Infested

It might be worth him asking a pharmacist, rashes are one of the things they can be quite helpful in identifying. Allergic reactions to drugs - eg penicillin or ibuprofen - can look like that and not itch but just the legs would be an odd place for a drug reaction. Best to get it checked out really.

Oh no really? Yeh he said they don't itch at all so hopefully not bedbugs!! I might ask him to ask any of the other guys he works with if they have them just to check it's not that

Another thought is bikini line rash. From Ingrowing hairs due to the unforgiving nature of the trousers and sitting down.

Yeh I didn't think of that. Will have a closer look and see if I can see any ingrown hairs!

Yes - he’s spent nearly 30 years on the road.
Both tramping and days/nights out.

I thought you must be. My hubby is pretty new to it, only been doing it about 5 years. Used to do tramping 6 nights a week but is currently in a new role only doing 2 which is better. People don't understand what it's like living with a trucker unlesss they've experienced it! Never know when they will be home ect

Op it certainly is a way of life for the entire family not just a job he does iyswim.
Mine has hauled just about everything that can be around the uk and Europe in his time. I used to join him in the early days (before strict rules!). I loved it. If I wasn’t too short to have driven on crash gear boxes I would have retrained myself.
But he is now with a supermarket. The hours are more regular although the politics are horrendous compared to when he was tramping.

lms2017 · 22/07/2021 20:44

My partner gets these sometimes they are from sweat and wearing shorts or trousers all day which are close to the skin x

Yes definitely a way of life for the family. We have two toddlers so he finds it hard being away too much. I bet your other half is feeling the pressure at the moment with supermarket shortages and then threatening to change the tachograph rules. All a bit of a worry at the moment. I'd love to go with him on one of his shifts just to see what it's like but unfortunately with little ones I've never had the chance

Bargebill19 · 22/07/2021 21:15

The supermarket shortages are partly due to supermarkets dining suppliers for being late with deliveries. As a result suppliers won’t supply! That and transport managers and planners who plan so badly that drivers are sat waiting for 5 hours before they get their first tip of their shift - colossal waste of drivers hours.
The proposed tacho change means they can drive for one hour extra per day - not a problem really. But unlikely to actually happen unless the software for the digitacho is rewritten, which would likely take longer than seeing this summer through.
Every summer sees fresh food shortages. Consumers can change their spending habits in a minute based on changing weather - wake up and it’s hot and you wil buy salad. But supply chains do not react that quickly, it often takes 10 days to catch up, by which time the weather and spending habits have changed again!! Never forget that most of this years produced was planned and ‘bought’ by supermarkets and suppliers this time last year.

Bargebill19 · 22/07/2021 21:18

Dining - charging. Sorry

This is one of the things I love about threads on here - OP came on to ask about one thing and found a kindred spirit! Plus, I just expanded my knowledge of trucking life and terminology by 100%! X😁
Must be tough work in this heat or do most cabs have air con?

Dizzywizz · 22/07/2021 21:28

Has he tried antihistamine like piritin to see if it helps? I’d also try putting aloe Vera on
