ebay help

I bought a dress listed as brand new without tags, never worn. It's to wear to a wedding. It was only £9 including postage and arrived in good time.

It has a stain on the front and pilling under the arms and where your backside goes. It has obviously been worn.

I don't buy much on ebay, what is the etiquette here? It was only £9, had it been listed as used, I would happily have tried washing it to see if the stain came out, if it didn't, my loss, buyer beware etc. But it wasn't listed as used, it was listed as unworn and brand new without tags.

Should I just rack this up to experience, or leave bad feedback(can you even do that now?) or ask for a refund (probably not worth it for £9 if I have to return it too) or contact the seller to let them know?

Any advice most welcome.

Let seller know that you'll be returning.
it is not ok to be £9+ out of pocket for shoddy goods

Eventually you'll probably file "Not as described" case to get all your money back. Seller will pay for return postage, too. But there is a chance seller will just refund rather than deal with all the hassle of return.

Contact the seller, include pictures and the description you have given here. Say you aren't satisfied with the condition, it isn't as described and you want a refund. On the odd occasion this has happened to me I have offered to return it at their cost, no sellers have ever taken me up on this surprisingly. I've gotten a full refund each time this has happened.

Thank you both. For £9 I think I'd like to keep it and just try washing it, (it probably cost around £70-100 new). I just want the buyer to know that it's not as described.

This is not helped by the fact I'm going away tomorrow so wouldn't be able to deal with a return until I got back. I'll take some photos and send them to the seller and see what happens.

Good plan. Make sure you take and send the photos as soon as possible so that they can't claim that you left the stain etc.
