What’s the best way to ask landlady whether I can get a dog?

So she’s never actually said no dogs but I got this place before it was on the market so I never got to know whether it was outlined as no-go. That said, I have a feeling it won’t be what she wants. I know I have to just ask but does anyone have any thoughts on how to go about it in a way that might improve my chances of success.

I’ve been here a little over 2 months, I’ve made the place really beautiful and look after it incredibly well. She’s never seen this with her own eyes though (although I’d be happy to let her). Not sure if there’s something in that that would make her more likely to say yes (because she knows I won’t allow the place to go to ruin).

Any thoughts?

All you can do is ask and offer pet rent. I really struggled to find somewhere to accept our DCats. I offered pet rent for them here and this coupled with the rent being so high made it possible. Have they got jobs to cover their share, no ...

You referred to a Dog
Then a Pup.

Which is it?

You can’t get an actual puppy if you work it’s cruel. No breeder worth their salt would let you have one knowing you will be out over eight hours a day.

And it will bark like fuck when you go out and piss off the neighbours which could result in you losing your tenancy. As could a bigger dog right enough…

Could it be you are just sad having split up with your bf and are looking for a furry friend to love?

If so I’d suggest you don’t get a dog. Get used to being alone. Keep busy. Volunteer in a shelter if you want to be around pets. A dog is for life. A broken heart heals. And then you’ll be out dating again and the dog that was such a loyal companion will be alone at home without you.

Surely single people with dogs date… Confused

And no this is not a reaction to the break up. As I said, we were planning this anyway. It was actually me who let him know at the very beginning that I planned to get a dog and I would never sign up for a dog-less life. I do understand why anything else would be concerning though.
