More flies than normal?

Arrgghh, anyone else found there are more flies around this summer? Was cooking dinner last night and had about 5 or 6 big flies in the kitchen.

We ate outside and again tons of flies. No wasps though!

We have one of those yellow window stick on things in the kitchen, I keep it clean and don't leave food out etc.

Any good recommended products for keeping them at bay both inside and outside?

Yes, I've noticed this but I thought it was because we've moved to a new house in the countryside so I'm glad to hear its not just this new house. We bought a couple of carnivorous plants to try and deal with the problem.

Do you get them inside too @LavendulaAngustifolia?

There are hugely less flies than there were, remember when you'd drive down the motor way and have dead flies all over the windscreen? Now almost nothing. Insects are decreasing at an alarming rate, up to 25% a decade. A German study of nature reserves there found numbers had decreased 75% in 27 years. It's pretty scary what we are doing to this planet with the amount of pesticides we use poisoning everything.

You could try a mesh over your doors and maybe windows?

Loads of flies here to. I just found one eating my daughters dinner I left out to cool Envy
Not impressed at having to cook another one!

Strangely I haven’t seen a single wasp so far this year. Normally I get loads in the garden.

We have a door net for this exact reason.
